So far so good... I've enjoyed the first 2 episode & the Lord of the Rings thing is later this week. Looking forward to vegging out

How is watching something on TV a book spoiler? Stop being such a dimwit. Admit you were wrong, then move on.

I liked the first 2 episodes. Trying not to judge it by GOT and treat it like it's a separate show. Matt Smith makes a good antagonist, but I can't help but think of him in a bow tie about to get into his TARDIS. And the Targaryens look too much like the arrogant elves from the Hobbit movies.

It's all going to depend on how well they can push the drama and conflict without resorting to ridiculous plot devices, which plagued the last seasons of GOT.

I don’t feel much worry this will just deep six the show.

A lot of the talk I see in Taylor is he directed a bunch of season 7 GoT….so this is bad news.

He also directed a lot of season 1 and 2 GoT, as well as Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Mad Men and Lost.

I’ve given up on treating anyone involved with GoT season 7 as radioactive. That was a whole fucked up situation in many different ways, and I would rather have someone from that experience that knows things to avoid happening again.

The change here most likely doesn’t change anything this new show is doing/plans on doing.

The only respectable thing to do is to quit watching before it gets too painful for you. There are things in life that just aren’t worth the aggravation.
 
By current day standards standards all these Targareyan girls in House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones roles that fought female stereotypes would be trans. They'd all be mutilated and hopped up on hormone blockers and hormones not meant for their bodies.
 
Good episode although it is odd how it seemingly took 3 years for them to take on the crab people while using a dragon.

It's analogous to the decades-long war in Afghanistan: Americans (Targaryens) having air superiority and dominance with fighter jets and bombers (dragons) firebombing (dragonbreathing) from above but unable to wipe out the guerrilla fighters on the ground who just keep hiding in and striking out from caves.

The Targaryens also tried and failed to conquer Dorne for almost 2 centuries for similar reasons.

Doesn’t look like much of a jump from the previews. Looks like they will be dealing with the direct aftermath of the Crab Feeder battle.
