Happy Birthday to the Abomination

Home runs puts people in the seats. I know, I know. Still, 3 outcome hitting is boring when the batter isn't Ruth, Judge or Aaron.
I get it, but until the analytics shows more viable strategy(which is possible after a few seasons of the new rules), it’s the way it is, and I don’t want a batter that doesn’t know how to bunt trying to bunt

My stance is that more batters should know how, just like hitting behind the runner. That's the problem with 3 outcome batters.

It isn’t the fault of the players, the analytics say it’s the best strategy and that’s what they’re coached to do from rookie ball.

...that is the Designated Hitter. 50 friggin' years.

"On December 10, 1972, the American League passes a new rule allowing the use of a “designated hitter.” Although the AL says it will employ the designated hitter on a three-year trial basis, the DH will eventually become a permanent part of the league’s rules."

BTW, this looks like a great website. I may have to look into it.
Former coworker was an Astros fan so we had some good conversations about baseball.

But when the Astros went to the AL, he no longer was an Astros fan.

He hated the DH that much.

As for me, I've never been a fan of it. We agreed it killed a lot of the strategy of the game with pitcher management.

Same reason I was happy when the Brewers went to the NL.

The needs are ruining the game.
I somewhat agree. I can remember when a runner on third with one out was a guaranteed run, now the batter has better odds of striking out than hitting a sac fly.

But I do like that homers and walks are up

I like seeing a guy hit 20 HRs and have 45 RBIs and 160 strike outs, hitting .240
