I had the same experience the year Hideo Nomo came up with the D**gers. His first game at Candlestick was an absolute sellout in a year where the Giants sucked and barely drew 10,000 fans to a game. There were a million flashbulbs with every pitch. Dude threw a one-hitter (Royce Clayton legged out an infield single for the only hit). Most of the concessions were closed because they had let everyone go due to low attendance.I happened to be in Kansas City for his MLB debut and decided to go. I'm pretty certain there were more Japanese people in KC that day than all the days before and after combined.
