PLEASE let Dan Lanning be the hire. I just want to see the meltdown from OD if another coach uses the Mighty Ducks as a stepping stone job.
 
Auburn fired 4 assistants basically all of Harsin’s guys from Boise.
 
Hugh Freeze just signed an 8 year extension at Liberty and would have to pay them if he leaves for another job.

I don’t think Lane Kiffin would leave Ole Miss for Auburn right now considering the state of each program. He’s got Ole Miss being a solid program while Auburn would have to be built from scratch, and I’m not sure Lane is the man for that. Matt Luke had Ole Miss in decent shape when Lane took over, and Auburn isn’t a drastically better job than Ole Miss

Dan Lanning would be a great hire, but also keep in mind this is his first year as a HC anywhere and he took over a program that was already in good shape and he has no experience building a program. It would be very risky, and he doesn’t strike me as a guy to up and leave after one year. But if it becomes clear the Pac is dying and Oregon doesn’t get a B1G invite, he might up and leave.

Jamey Chadwell at Coastal Carolina should be their first call IMO. He’s build CCU up from one of the worst programs in the country into one of the top G5 programs and has brought in a lot of talent to a no name school and has recruiting connections in the south. Not a guarantee, but he’s the best bet of the guys they could actually get IMO

More than that, IF he was willing to leave Ole Miss after two years, he couldn't be trusted to stay at Auburn. We are not his destination job and it would do more harm for him in the long term than good.

I’d take Kiffin in a heartbeat and you could structure a buyout that would make it tough for him to leave.

The only reason Kiffin wouldn’t come to Auburn is antimony. I don’t think Kiffin is scared of getting fired but I do think he wants to be left alone to do his thing. At Ole Miss he is the big dog and the brand and he wouldn’t be that at Auburn. It just comes down to what he is willing to trade off because Auburn is going to give him the resources to win championships and Ole Miss is not.

Thats the first call I want our bonehead AD to make if he ever grows nads and fires this shitshow we have now.
