Since I messed up in the last thread, there will be one more elimination to make, but this poll will be to determine the seeds of the 16 team tournament.

Seeding Criteria
1) # of votes in this thread
2) Auto In > Bubble Team
3a) Auto In Tie Breaker - # of votes in first thread
3b) Bubble Team Tie Breaker - # of votes in all threads
4) The team with the larger point differential in their season+post season.

Teams that have made it
Bold teams = Auto In teams (10 teams that finished in top of first set of filter threads)

1997 Nebraska
1997 Michigan
1998 Tennessee
1999 Florida State
2001 Miami (FL)
2002 Ohio State
2004 USC
2005 Texas

2008 Florida
2009 Alabama
2011 LSU
2013 Florida State
2018 Clemson
2019 LSU
2020 Alabama

2021 Georgia - I messed up in last thread poll and didn't include them, so they became an additional bubble team.
2022 Georgia

Here is the blank bracket
In the tourney, better seed wins tie breaker and winner of first matchup automatically wins rematch.

Pretty difficult to come up with just 6. Most of them had pretty good balance.
For criteria I went with "Undefeated" and highest rankings in the 4 categories.
SRS = Simple Rating System a rating that takes into account average point differential and strength of schedule. The rating is denominated in points above/below average, where zero is average, although it should be noted that margin of victory has been assigned a lower bound of 7 points and an upper bound of 24 points. Non-major opponents are included as a single team in the ratings.
'Undefeated' teams that I eliminated and why.

Let's be honest though, the teams from 2014 or later would trash most of the teams prior. The game has changed that much. If you look at it based on performance metrics, sure teams in the past stack-up but if you go off how "good" the team is from eye test, all my top 6 would be in 2014 or later. (Yes that includes the overrated, overhyped 2001 Miami team. I think 2004 USC could take them personally).

I know the 2022 UGA team went undefeated and the 2021 team didn’t, but 2021 was a better team. The 2022 team just avoided Bama all together

I had to be homerish some :). Yeah any of the teams after 2014 would kill 1998 Tennessee. Heck, I think Tennessee this past season may be able to beat them. I also voted for 2004 USC.

STFU, fraud.

My point is to be fair, this should be split into a bracket of 1997-2010 and then a separate one for 2011-2022.

The two eras of CFB are just not comparable.

EDIT: If you are going to include teams prior to 2010, you might as well open the vote up to all of CFB. Heck, I imagine 1995 Nebraska would be very high on the rankings for example.

And you're still lying.

Read my post again. I said if I voted on "eye test". Based on past discussions, your reading comprehension isn't that good.

Then again, it is, you just want to troll people on irrelevant posts or grammar issues because you have the maturity of a 12-year old in your arguing skills.

Then your votes should have been for 6 of the 7 teams that are 2011 and after.

You're still being disingenuous.

I disagree. Coaching was insane in early 2000s. I don't think change really means improvement. It seems QBs had bigger names in early 2000s than they do now, and now is designed to make them bigger than ever.

Not really, I am arguing he should change the entire format. I stated before that the criteria is not defined on how to even grade the skill. This is why 1997 Michigan got some many votes. People are just picking teams based on favoritism so I did the same.

The implementation of new offense never seen before starting in 2010 makes a big difference. Also, I don't see a coach in early 2000s that competes well against Dabo Swinney, Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, etc.

This is why I am not that high on 2001 Miami. Their coaching was mediocre (that is why Larry Coker got fired earlier) and their QB was serviceable. I think 2004 USC or 2006/2008 Florida were the best teams that decade.

Sure 2001 Miami had that rash of NFL picks but that was for two reasons:

1. It aligned where all the picks went that year instead of over multiple years like other teams
2. Miami did have the top overall NFL picks but that doesn't always translate into the BEST team

Take Tennessee under Fulmer for example. 2001 Tennessee had far more future NFL stars than 1998 Tennessee but it is clear the 1998 team was better overall from a team mentality.

BTW, if you go off season performance, 1995 Nebraska is the best team in the modern era based on their performance against their schedule. 1899 Sewanee deserves some love though :).

There were plenty of great Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, USC teams of past decades that would be interesting to stick on an all-time list.

@iowajerms to be fair, I am probably over complicated a fun off-season exercise...
