How many NCAA tourney games get cancelled ?

LMAO. They finally come up with a contingency. A week before the start of the tourney.

A team needs five players to play. Geniuses...

So with a virus with a 5 day incubation period if 1 guy tests positive but the others don't your just going to roll out the other players who are "healthy " and then potentially infect the other team? Seems like a good way to not have a Final 4 lol

I honestly think it can be done. Purdue had Stefanovic test positive and they didn't miss a game. And I always harken back to when Gobert tested positive, only 1 other person(Mitchell) out of their tier 1 personnel(which was 57 people) only tested positive and they weren't wearing masks/socially distant.

Sure it's possible. Still seems like a risk. I guess it's better than the alternative but how would you like to be Baylor getting ready to play a 16 seed with 3 players who tested positive? I mean shit even after you win you could lose . Adds a whole nother level of intrigue I guess lol

I think the level of transmission during a game is statistically very low. But I do agree with the ncaa on this, in that one positive shouldn't rule you out. There have been plenty of examples where teams have pushed forward with a tier 1 personnel having tested positive. But you are right. There is definitely risk. But this whole season pretty much has been lol.

This just seems like the logical end where we get to the F4 and some team has to play 5 walk on players because all their starters got Covid from Mount St Marys in round 1 lol

This type of thing gives teams a chance to keep going with a situation like the Duke situation.

Of course, last time Nova had COVID, it was relevealed that it was among several players. But at least they have the opportunity to trot a team out there.

The thing that worries me is that Duke tested + after playing 2 games in 2 days. So, your incubation point seems to be the case there. That is going to be a major problem. I predict we're going to lose some games like I said b4. Hopefully it's not too bad.

I believe that Carolina's team used the same seats/bench area that the Duke team used after their Louisville game. LOL

just stop testing them once they enter the bubble

Duke out of ACC tournament
Virginia out of ACC tournament

Not sure why these teams are dropping when during the season if one guy got it they'd just keep him home, no? Now one guy gets it and we are back to utter chaos within the team and everyone must quarantine?

Unfortunately, I don't care if the tournament is canceled this year. The current state of basketball right now is pretty bad, having no fans and not having that energy and excitement has absolutely ruined interest in the game.

The first two days of the tournament, Thursday and Friday, were some of the best two days of the sports year, this year, I might tune in, I might not, i'm not putting everything on hold to make sure I catch all the games all day.

Duke sucks and they know it.
Virginia I could understand a bit more they are a legitimate NCAA tournament team.

This is my favorite time of the year and I really don't want the tournament cancelled but if it is, oh well. It's not the same without fans

Looks like Virginia wanted to put GT over.

Some collusion by those corrupt AF Tobacco Road types

Tournament isn't getting cancelled fellas.

I honestly haven't missed the fans nearly as much as I thought I would either

Like I said, the NCAA is incompetent.

They moved the tournament back 1 day. For no reason but to break tradition. It doesnt actually do anything.

And now we are seeing ramifications of the incompetence. Games cancelled left and right.

The correct moves were simple
1. Cancel conference tournaments
2. If you have them, 1 week early so every team can quarantine in Indy.

But nah, lets just move it back 1 day. Clowns.

NCAA was never going to be able to get conferences to cancel their tournaments.

NCAA was never going to be able to get conferences to cancel their tournaments.

This is correct. But they should have had a week to allow everyone to quarantine before the tournament. Pushing the start back a day or two does nothing

Exactly why I said they shouldn't play the conference tournaments.

It started off promising but the wheels are falling off now.

Just gotta hope not too many games are cancelled next week and see if we can have a good Sweet 16.

Yep. They were asking for it when they moved forward with them. Penny wise, pound foolish IMO.

I just read a headline on ESPN that Duke could play in NCAA Tournament in invited.

IF Duke gets an invite, that will destroy that credibility of the NCAA tournament, especially after this season and all this COVID crap. Duke has zero business being in the tournament. Their record is horrible and they backed out of their conference tournament. The only chance Duke had at making the tournament was to win their conference tournament in which they backed out of.

Duke isn’t making the NCAAT, ESPN just wants eyeballs

They sure as hell shouldn't, but ESPN could get eyeballs other ways than just typing up some ridiculous headline. Seems odd they'd put out such an article if there wasn't some fire behind it.
