Hurricane Ida

Looks like the models are backing off some on expected intensity at landfall. Most pointing to Cat 3 instead of the Cat 4. Hoping it sucks in some dry air right before landing to weaken her.

150 mph winds right now just off the coast? Dam son

I'm in between BR and NOLA, so right in the path. She's heading straight for me.....

Oh-oh, here she comes!

:gaah:

You’ve mentioned it all so I know you’re not in the worst position for this.

Hang tight brother, keep us posted as you can.

Can anyone remind me why anyone would want to live in southern Louisiana? Not taking a shot at people in harms way, but not like this is a once in a hundred years occurrence.

Here we go again....

That's a stupid question. Fuck you.

You have to ask someone else. I left that shithole 22 years ago.

Great people, great food, great outdoors.

Shitty government, shitty schools, shitty weather, shitty career opportunities if you don't want to work in O&G.

I heard that if you are east of landfall, that's where all the water surge is, or something like that.
Worst of the storm is the east side. Specifically the upper NE quadrant of most storms.

That said @TigerBait1971 is right. If your right smack on the track it’s all going to be bad.

The east side strong bit matters if you’re not getting the main core of the storm over you.

He's far enough north not to worry about water surge. Wind and things blowing in the wind is his problem.

Now Grand Isle Louisiana will be wiped from the map. Also RIP Terry's bait shop in Leeville. TYFYS. :salute:

Looks like it's catching some shear from the NE right now. Hopefully that will keep it from strengthening any more and it's hit peak intensity

Went to bed it was 105mph I think….wake up to 150 and 155 expected on landfall. This is what I worried about with the development opportunities in the Gulf.

This is not going to be good at all…..
Did the same thing. Went to bed around 1:30 am ET (before the 2 am NHC Advisory) and it was still 105mph and woke up and it's 150mph. Looks like it's gonna hit landfall in about an hour or so.

NOT good at all down that way... :twitch:

The food is good. Fried but good

They (WC) were just showing some video footage of the water already coming into Grand Isle with just 45 mph winds... Looked NASTY!

I can’t speak for this area with experience. I’ve only been to New Orleans proper a few times.

But, there has always been a thing about how protective people can be about where they were born and grew up. It often doesn’t make sense to outsiders, but it does to them. Hell, countless wars that have been fought with this being a major component of the the conflict.

I’ll admit I don’t often easily get it, but I’ll respect it as I get the premise.
