I don't think I will ever totally understand CFB Coaching Jobs rankings

So Texas is 1 but A&M is not even a top 10?

They’re basically the same thing minus the weirdo yell leaders so.. that tells ya what A&M needs to do.

A&M will never be an even top 20 job because they have the most unrealistic fan and donor base out there. They will never quit chasing their tails.

For instance, Oregon.

I do get the appeal with great facility, Nike using them as lab rats for top product, and they have had one of the more successful programs in recent history. Why haven't they been able to keep a coach from going elsewhere since Bellotti left 15 years ago. It isn't because the coaches got fired, they left for "better" jobs.

Oregon has a great coaching job, buy why is it such a stepping stone for coaches?
I think Oregon is a great job but coaches there have left to go back home.. Be interesting to see if Lanning stays put or will he succumb to the sweet whispers of Florida?

If you turn down Bama, no need to listen to Florida

that wasn't even confirmed.. DeBoer said he got the call the same day Saban announced his retirement
You're a Texas fan, so it's little surprise that you got duped

A&M is not Texas.

That's like claiming Auburn is Alabama
I know their not the same historically , I’m saying now, they have pretty much everything Texas has to work with.

Money
Recruiting area
Academics
Position as far as P2 conference/ stability

All on par with Texas, No good reason that a coach wouldn’t want to be at A&M other than the woot brigade.

in the past 40-50 years, what are some states that have seen the perceived little brother school have an extended period of national success in college football?

Off the top of my head, I can only think about Florida/FSU/Miami. maybe, Auburn? their history is so bizarre (they go from being elite to dogshit in the blink of an eye)

the perception of being little bro is pretty hard to overcome.

Depending on how you define national success, Michigan St probably qualifies.

Everyone has their own criteria.

To me it's:

-Can you recruit elite talent?
-What are the facilities like?
-What's the hot seat situation like?
-Do you have enough financial support to hire a top tier staff?
I think NIL has to play into this now as well. If you don't have a huge NIL pool to play with, you're going to struggle there.

I think if you have a coach leave your program in the middle of the night to go join another college program that they have no ties to, you should instantly be removed from any top 10 destinations list.

"Can you recruit elite talent?"
Sure, broadly speaking that's all encompassing. But I think there's a distinction to be made between some schools will draw some elite talent just because of their name, schools that try to buy talent through NIL and schools that can do both. Ohio State is doing both, Colorado is simply buying a roster through the portal.

lol i have no dog in this fight.. just saying what Deboer said when it came to the Alabama situation

lol man i'm listing to a 9.95er on a youtube live.. he said that Lanning was never coming to Bama because Saban doesn't like him, and Saban was still going to be around despite his retirement. The admin and other people in the dept knew it was going to be oil and water..
