I see its Lane Kiffin to Nebraska week

I agree, they need to build their program. This is what I was expecting from Tennessee, I wanted an 8-4 or 9-3 season. There is a great chance we may even beat that.

I will say that with the B1G West being down, it might not be as difficult as we assume. They won't see Michigan and Ohio State that often so that really puts them up against Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue, etc. Those teams are not recruiting powerhouses and several of them are struggling right now just like Nebraska. It really isn't a bad spot. Many of the criticisms about Nebraska could have been said about Tennessee 2 years ago.

I'd say Nebraska is a bad spot right now.

Unless they are going to be extremely patient with whoever they hire, your back is pretty much against the wall right away there with a fan base with some pretty lofty mostly unrealistic expectations. The B1G West is really just a interchangeable cluster of mediocrity, I don't really see anyone from that bunch ever being a major threat on the national level.

A guy like Lane would be taking a major risk jumping to a job like that.

SEC is a stepping stone conference these days.

Nebraska is a downgrade in terms of coaching jobs...he'd be a fool to leave Ole Miss for Lincoln

Well their Twitter game would certainly improve

It's never a given that you are going to beat Lane when you play him. Plus just winning the West should get him in the playoff so yes I think it does.
Has a BIG West team ever made the playoff?

Highly doubtful Kiffin was ever on that flight because it originated in Denver, went to Scottsbluff NE, to Lincoln, to Oxford MS, back to Lincoln, then back to Scottsbluff.

It sat in Scottsbluff overnight Thursday, all day Friday, and left Scottsbluff early Saturday morning.

Most likely Ole Miss fans that flew down to the Auburn game on Saturday, and flew back Sunday.

I'd say it's quite a bit easier to recruit to Ole Miss than it will be to Nebraska as things stand right now.

And if you go there now you are starting with a mostly empty cupboard.

He'd be 2-3 years away from competing at least. I think you are over-estimating the potential of Nebraska.
I’m just laying pros and cons. Ole Miss hasn’t won the conference since 1963 and only tied for the west division once with LSU in 2003 and lost the tie breaker. The odds of them winning a division is very remote.

It just depends on what Lane wants. He has a job at Ole Miss for a long time and I think he stays. He’ll think hard about it though.

Kiffin kissing up to the Nelson family in Scottsbluff trying to keep Garrett from entering the portal.....while stopping in Lincoln for million dollar hand shakes with Trev.... :spy:

Seriously though, I agree Kiffin isn’t coming to Nebraska on that flight or to be the next coach.

Let's be honest, Lane isn't leaving Ole Miss, at least not for Nebraska. He is getting paid 7.5 million a year until 2025 for a fan base that has little to no expectation of the CFP or even winning their division. That is a dream job for a coach. Just be competitive and you are a cult hero at Ole Miss.

Auburn should try for Kiffin.

Truth is if Saban was retiring this year Kiffin would be top 3 on my list of candidates to replace him:

1. Dabo (probably wouldn't leave Clemson and needs to get over his hangups about the transfer portal)
2. Kirby Smart (unless something happens he probably wouldn't leave UGA)
3. Lane Kiffin

I wish he'd get caught screwing prostitutes or get drunk and go to a boosters meeting so he could come back and be our OC and us ditch BOB. :plotting:

Now Auburn is a job I can see him jumping too -- still right in the middle of the SEC recruiting footprint, will get better recruits than he will get at Ole Miss.

Still -- if you are a coach -- Ole Miss has to be a dream job. They don't expect you to win national titles, but if you win 8, 9, 10 games -- you will be revered by the fan base. I mean, the guy is somewhere around the 10th highest paid coach and doesn't have to win anything.

Leaving the Grove for..... Nebraska?

I aint buying it.

Kiffin is in the perfect position and he knows. He ain't going nowhere.

Seriously -- I think the only person with a better contract than Kiffin is Mel Tucker. Now if another team with no expectation of winning a title or even their division comes knocking and offers him 10 years 95 million -- I could see him leaving.

If not, Kiffin can rake in millions with little to no expectations.

lets see where Malachi goes on Sat

Deion Sanders to Auburn.

I dunno why even Kiffin would ever consider being out there in those "boonies"... :headscratch:
Damn corp...lose a game and the USC/avi goes upside down and backards!

When we fly the Texas flag upside down it is a sign of distress! Or the fifth graders that put it up that day didn't pay attention!
