If you were the Czar of College Football...........

1. Abolish both the "illegal blind side block" & "targeting" rules. In return, implement an "illegal launching/spearing" rule.

2. In overtime, each team starts at their own 25 yd line for the first 2 periods. Starting in 3rd OT & onward, both teams start at midfield. Everything else stays the same (no game clock, both teams get a possession in each period, etc).

3. CFP adopts the FCS playoff format.

4. FBS teams can't schedule FCS teams anymore.

5. No more divisions in the FBS.

6. All ball carriers must be tackled/touched down to actually be "down".

7. Need both feet inbounds for a catch or an INT.

8. In regulation, touchbacks = start at your own 20 yd line.

I'm fine with that.

I like the amount, but I am not down with byes.

5. No more divisions in the FBS.
Doesn't really matter to me either way.
6. All ball carriers must be tackled/touched down to actually be "down".
Nah, I would rather the NFL adopt the college way. If you are down, you're down.
7. Need both feet inbounds for a catch or an INT.
Nah, I don't like this either lol. Only one foot should matter and the NFL should adopt this from college too.
8. In regulation, touchbacks = start at your own 20 yd line.
Yeah, just go back to pre 2010.

Offseason bump.

I'm going to get killed here but we have to have the targeting penalty and yes pussify the game. The concussion thing is a massive problem and if we don't make the game safer then parents aren't going to let their kids play.

Atheletes have gotten bigger, stronger, faster and the bodies can't handle the blunt trauma.

It sucks but that's the reality.
As much as I would rather watch football the way it was played in the 70s and 80s, you are absolutely correct

There is too much evidence supporting the narrative of the mental harm the physicality of football causes that it just can't be ignored.

How about a reasonable, enforced, across-the-board GPA requirement in all sports for the receipt of NIL benefits? Make it a number any moron can get to if they even crack a book. I'd make it 2.8. Fall under that and you might be allowed to stay in school if the school will allow it but your Happy Money just went bye bye. This would do away with the idea of purely professional football at the college level and it would put no limits on the amount of money someone could make if they were following the rules to still be a student.

That would be racist.

Seriously though I think the only way to fix NIL at this point is to put them all on salary and have them sign over their likeness rights as consideration for the employment contract. Then you could fine them for not having a certain GPA but we all know teams would put them all into PE classes.

College football has two major problems right now:

1. NIL has created compensation with no ceiling
2. Transfer portal has created unrestricted free agency

The way to fix both of them is to just admit that CFB is a minor league professional league put all the players on salary (with a cap) and in return, they are under contract. I would make the contract a one-year commitment and have a one-month open window after the last bowl game where a player could choose to sign with another team (no trades obviously) or the team could separate with the player and not renew. As for NIL the players would sign those over to the team for that year.

Otherwise, we are going to continue to have the shit show that we currently have.

Everyone seemed happier under the old arrangement. Let’s do that.

Restore a Conference structure more similar to late 1990s and move up some teams (I posted my perfect setup in another thread right here: Post your perfect College Football Conference/League setup ).

Move all lower teams not in my lineup down to Division I-a.

32-team playoff (I did this in a fantasy league one time and it can work)

Equal revenue sharing nationally (not just per Conference). In fact, disband Conference's ability to act outside NCAA.

Keep NCAA rules but lighten scholarship limits to allow players to get stipends to live nice and get great food. Perhaps cap player payments at $ 100k per year. Get away from NIL as a result.

Allow insurance that provides income to players that are seriously injured

Reduce strictness of targeting rule. Two targeting calls before injection.

Make penalty for Holding 5 yards unless it is flagrant.

4/8 schedule for all teams. Only two games against lower divisions allowed. (Half of the 50% games have to go against the 7 Conference in my list)

Also stealing two ideas from @Knight&Day because they are great ideas:

6. All ball carriers must be tackled/touched down to actually be "down".

7. Need both feet inbounds for a catch or an INT.

No weather delays, ever. It’s football.
