In Case You Forgot

I'm sure there will be years where the B1G is stacked. But this year -- the B1G is terrible. Indiana is going to represent the B1G? In the last 6 quarters against Michigan and Ohio State they had 150 yards of offense. In 6 quarters.
Penn State has beaten one team with 6 wins on the year. Illinois.

So many teams in the B1G are trash, poor Indiana gave Cignetti 70+ million and Indiana is going to get smacked once they play a real schedule and all the teams down pass them up.

Will be interesting to see what they do with 12 teams. I know I can't be the only one who sees the enormous disparity in conferences

I think Cignetti could have Indiana running at 7/8 wins a year maybe but this year was definitely aided by a comically fortunate schedule. They shoulda waited before giving him some massive raise.

As I said -- you know I usually am all about the B1G. Our conference is WAY down this year.
Penn State needs a fake punt to beat Minnesota by 1? Only beat Bowling Green by 7. Have to go to OT to beat USC? Somehow they are #4 in the country?

Indiana almost lost to Michigan for crying out loud. We are terrible. We can't throw a forward pass. And their big win is who? Michigan?

You are blatantly ignoring that some of these so called good SEC teams have lost a game or two against Minnesota caliber teams.

Who is their best win against? I thought it was 6-3 Illinois? Does Illinois not have 6 wins or have them beat another team with 6wins?
They have like 5 wins over teams with 6+ wins. Do research before shouting this shit out.

It is the Michigan State situation all over again. The bad part for Indiana is - they can't even recruit at the level of MSU, so they will be paying a ridiculous amount of money to be a middle of the road team

Being a middle of the road team for Indiana is gravy considering they are more often than not a bottom level team. I don’t agree with them unloading the bank for that though.

That tells you how much I've been paying attention to standings. I thought it was week 9 and it is week 11.

Their schedule is still trash. Only team in the B1G with an easier schedule is Indiana.

Penn State only beaT Minnesota by 1 we get it but they WON. Ole Miss and Bama legit have lost to 2 Minnesota level teams.
I simply can't agree. Minnesota played one P4 team outside the B1G this year. They lost to the team in a tie for 12th place in the ACC. North Carolina.

Hell, they lost to Michigan.

But Ohio State won that game by 3 TD lol and Oklahoma was actually somewhat good that year. No excuses for Bama losing that bad.
And the next year OU beat you at home. These things happen, everything was right and in place, OU wasn’t losing. The days of OU, Ohio State, Bama, whoever dominating are over. Long gone, it’s going to be like the nfl now to some degree

Metrics like the fpi and Sagarin are predictive. They aren't resume based. If you were to ask me who I think would win on a neutral field between Ole Miss and a team like IU, I'd take Ole Miss. If you asked me who was more deserving I'd take IU because they have a better resume. If you're looking for strictly results based metrics Colley and SoR are the best out there IMO. And like I said before no singular metric is perfect. The more data points the better.
I would rather use Sagarin than the Committee. The best idea would be to put some Vegas guys on the committee. They actually know football

Have you seen Arkansas Florida Vandy Kentucky and Auburn? They are no better than Minnesota.

I'm usually the one on here arguing about the B1G being on par with the SEC. This year though -- the B1G is a train wreck. USC blows. Michigan blows. Michigan state blows. Penn State at #4 is a joke, as they haven't played anyone but Ohio and they lost. Indiana as a top 10 is a bigger joke. They haven't played an easier schedule than PSU.

You shouldn't penalize teams for the schedules they play, but it is laughable the B1G this year.
I'm not arguing that psu/Indiana run through sec.

It just means more in Eugene and Columbus

Yeah, they may regret that. Then again, if he gets them to 8-4 every year, they will be happy. How long was that contract?

I also think the conferences learn from these first 2 years. My guess is that the SEC stays at 8 games, goes to a 1-7-7 format, and does their best to make sure the schedule is way more balanced. Then they will do something that allows them to adjust it every 4 years.

That is the problem for Bama and Ole Miss problem is some people want to pretend like they have 3 “quality losses” they leave the teams out and just use the “well look at their SOS! Lots of teams would have 3 losses!” That argument works if the losses were to like UGA Tennessee and Texas. Or even 2 of those 3 with only 1 unranked loss. But anyone trying to argue for Bama or Ole Miss this year is going to have a hard time getting taken seriously. Bama could still comically back in though, if anyone’s gonna get that bs luck it’s them.
Yup, as they lost yesterday I said for Bama their problem was their loss to Vandy. For OM their loss to Ky is killer, and LSU being down isn't helping them. Notre Dame and Miami show that you can lose one bad one, but you better win the rest. The SEC can likely get away with 2 losses, so long as only one is bad. Lose 3 and you better have one OOC and the other ones better limited to one bad one at best.

I do wonder if this is going to be the new norm as the NIL and transfer portal starts eating away at depth for the formerly top teams, and makes the mid-teams dangerous. If you look at OM, they won for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is that their DL overwhelmed our OL. Kiffin stated that he went in to the transfer portal with that in mind.

I would also guess the sec remains gutless cowards and stays at 8 games
LOL, you do realize your new conference that you are blowing daily went to 9 conference games in 2016, right? It's not like it's something that has happened forever. The 8 game schedule has long been the norm. Our 8 game schedules are harder than your 9 game schedules, so we won't be changing unless we get paid a butt load of money.

Oregon's been 9 conference games for quite some time

Other conferences don't run from a challenge like SEC

I think today's UF would beat Minny. The others might be a good game.

It pains me to say that UF is playing very well right now. Swingblade has done a great coaching job this year.
