Sounds like he was using the word "date" pretty loosely. I wouldn't consider myself "dating" a chick unless it was a month or so +.

If I actually picked a broad up and took her out and returned her home, I might consider it having dated her even if it was just one time. If all I ever did was say, "hey, I'll be at the bar, meet me there," I don't think I'd consider it dating even if it went on longer than a month.

I see dated/dating as two different terms. If one date counts as dated then I'm probably in the 50 to 60 range also.
