Jeff Brohm To Louisville

This is exactly what I was thinking. While he is an alumnus, I’m still shocked he made this move. It seems backwards and maybe it’s a little early to start thinking but when that ACC GoR is up there is basically going to be 2 Power conferences. And that’s if the GoR lasts fully. As time passes coaches will be thinking long and hard about leaving that P2 conference for basically a G5 conference no matter where they went to school.
I bet his wife is from the South and maybe Louisville since he is and if she is living up in Indiana then she is more than likely super unhappy. Brohm's a good guy and probably loves his wife so this was a solution and if it doesn't work he will have 35 million guaranteed.

I think it is a backwards move ... at Louisville he will have half the budget he has at Purdue once the B1G TV money kicks in. He may regret this one day.
Purdue gets BIG 10 but still gets out spend by Louisville.
As a coach, I'll rather go to a school who's investing more in the football program.

It's fucking Purdue. not like he's going from Penn State to Louisville.
Lousiville would be the upgrade in that scenario.

Penn State seems to be the aTm of the B1G and you have to want to be in a cult to go to one of those.

While I agree that B1G is > ACC, but Louisville is a good draw at least
It would be if revenue were the same. This one is a head scratcher to me. The payout B1G teams are getting versus what ACC teams are getting is significant and expected get even larger. I'd think, because of that difference, Purdue would be able to pay more for assistants than Louisville will....even if he made the same or more at Louisville.

I'm expecting coaches to go the other direction. I think good coaches from the PAC 12, Big 12 and ACC are going to get poached by B1G and SEC teams on a regular basis. Even if those teams aren't the premiere jobs in the big two. Until the USC to the B1G was announced, I thought Riley was nuts going from a school that would be a member of the big two to one that was going to be a member of the lesser three. Kelly's made sense going TO one of the big two from an independent.

From
- School spending more on football
- Better facilities
- School being a bigger players in NIL
- Less academic restrictions for recruiting
- And being from Louisville

Louisville is a better coaching job

Yea exactly.

It's Purdue. I don't care how much TV money the B1G is getting, Purdue is still going to be limited in what you can do there.

I’ll say this about Louisville the people support their team. We did a campus visit 5 years ago with my daughter and I’d never seen so many students on campus in school gear.

I don't doubt any of them. But that first one is touchy. That "spending" has to have the money coming in to be sustainable or increase. B1G per team revenue from media is projected to be nearly twice what ACC per team revenue is. So BMDs will have to make up the difference for that football budget to keep up.

Now that I think about it, money spent on the football program probably doesn't matter. If it did, Texas and A&M would be playing for the natty.

Purdue is not paying out high dollar for football assistants, no matter how much the university is getting from B1G TV money.

Maybe today, but not when each team in the B1G is getting $110 million per year and the ACC is getting in the $50 million range.

For now ... but from 2026-2030, Purdue will bring in $250 million more than Lousiville. You think all that is going to last long? Plus at Louisville some of the money you talk about comes from and goes to hoops.

Go here and compare:

Just because the school gets the money doesn't mean it's going to funnel it all or even a great amount of it back into the football program. This rings very true for Purdue, IMO.

Interesting enough, Louisville is able to generates a pretty pennie outside of TV deals

Is Louisville playing high dollar for football assistants?

Probably not, but the path to success at Louisville is still easier than it is at Purdue.
That’s fine but stating that Purdue won’t pay for high dollar assistants while insinuating the Louisville will is disingenuous.

Yes, but (1) I am guessing that is hoops and the money goes to hoops, and (2) these don't reflect the new B1G v. ACC difference.

Look, I don't think it's a terrible move, and the fact he is going home makes sense. And he can win the ACC when he can't win the B1G. So there's that.

Especially in about 2 years.
