Jim Harbaugh gone to NFL

For sure. I wonder if and how many prospects they lost out on this year because of JH's shenanigans.
Probably 0. Especially if harbaugh signs a contract with some clause about interviewing with the NFL in the future.

Our class was signed. You think this is going to hurt recruiting of kids a year from now?
There very well could have been recruits that didn't consider UoM because of the waffling by Harbaugh.

You can say there weren't all you want, but you don't know that. Hell, Harbaugh might not even know it.

Yes, potentially. He's a flake, and this recent episode is just another example.

Maybe it won't harm their efforts at all. Maybe it will. We don't know and likely never will, but to pretend like its impossible is retarded. So, I guess that ultimately I understand why you're pretending it's impossible.

The Michigan fans who are pretending that all of the going ons, as in how they have happened, this offseason for them are all 100% normal and there is "nothing wrong nothing to see here" are pure comedy

It can only hurt, best case is that it doesnt harm at all (wish I think is a bit wishful thinking) but there 0% chance it helps at all.

When do you think teams start recruiting players? No one had any idea Harbaugh was considering the NFL again until after this year -- hell, there were fans who didn't even want Harbaugh as UM's coach before this past year.

Teams start recruiting the 2022 kids, 2, 3, 4+ years ago. If anything, UM shocked me with the class they were able to pull in with Harbaugh telling his recruits he was going to interview for the NFL job. They didn't lose any significant player and actually pulled in not 1, but 2 top 100 recruits away from other schools (Keon Sabb from Clemson and Derrick Moore from OU) late in the process.

Harbaugh's antics this off season will hurt future recruiting, i think, because players aren't going to trust that he will be around and will bounce if a NFL team comes calling.

Our class was signed. You think this is going to hurt recruiting of kids a year from now?
OF COURSE IT WILL. You think a parent is going to push their kid to commit to a coach and a school who could be gone the next year?

The parents are entrusting these coaches with their kids. If a coach may or may not be there -- it is going to REALLY hurt recruiting. Look how bad USC recruited when it was basically a sure thing Clay Helton was going to be fired.

Parents and recruits want stability.

ahh yes you picked up two huge commitments from players that were leaning towards other staffs that are also being filled. Yeah no big deal
That was huge for UM. Those two were the 2nd and 3rd highest ranked recruits we signed. You have to remember -- The state of Michigan doesn't have top 100 recruits growing on trees like Texas. We will have the occasional 5 star, like Will Johnson this year -- then we usually have a spattering of 4 star guys and that's it.

What isn't normal? we lost a DC to his original NFL team. Gattis wasn't offered what he wanted, so he felt slighted and left. Harbaugh looked into NFL jobs and was open about it; that's about the only unusual thing here.

And the timing was later than usual because the NFL bumped their season back by another week. So what would normally happen mid to late Jan was happening early Feb.

Yes. For the same reason these kids didn't bolt in this class. I think you'll find the parents will appreciate the honesty Harbaugh gave that they're not going to get from other coaches.

So... the Wolverines need a new OC...

I wonder if Art Briles would like Zingerman's Deli?

.

Yes, for the kids he has been recruiting for 2, 3, 4 years -- I agree, it was great that he was open and honest with them. NOW, when kids have an open window to go and search out other schools -- there is absolutely no benefit to him not being a fixture at UM in the future. NONE.

Players and parents want stability. They don't want to commit to a coach and school, not knowing if a coach will be around. If you think otherwise, you are foolish. Parents entrust a HC with their child -- that is why coaches recruit these kids for so many years to earn those parents trust. If a coach is waffling and wants to bounce -- I don't care how honest you are -- it is going to hurt the school in recruiting.

Battered fan syndrome.

Battered fan syndrome.
Nah -- every fan base has that group of fans who thinks their program does no wrong. He falls into that group.

There are plenty UM fans who are realistic and understand how messed up the entire situation has been and how it will hurt the program in the future, unless something is done with Harbaugh -- whether it be replacing him after this year, or putting some type of clause in where he isn't holding the program hostage to interview in the NFL

I just don't think it's a big deal. Kids aren't locked into schools like they used to be. They can just as easily bolt as coaches can. So if yo ucome to Michigan and Harbaugh goes to the NFL, you can go to another school. It's not the same argument it used to be with NIL and 1 time transfer rules in place.

Lol Michigan's new recruiting pitch "If I leave you can just transfer"

I think that's going to be everyone's pitch (see ND, OU, Oregon.....) I don't think you can guarantee any coach at any school is going to be at that school the following year. Hell, it wasn't even a few weeks ago that Day's name was being mentioned for the Chicago Bears opening.
