That's already mostly settles according to Sam Webb. I think he said Weis is going to get the OC title and Moore is going to get some addition to "O-line coach" and have him help call plays.

Do you think parents want to send their kids away to a HC who may or may not be there? That is who they are trusting with their child. Do you think kids WANT to uproot their lives, move across the country to an entirely different team? Leave the friends they have made, leave the their teammates......because the HC leaves?

The transfer portal is a nice option to have, but it definitely isn't ideal for kids.
I'd be willing to bet our recruiting class next year will be much lower next year because of this.

I don't think you can make an argument that any coach at any school is solidly at that school. Mel Tucker could bolt for the NFL next year. Ryan Day could bolt for the NFL next year. I don't think Harbaugh flirting with the NFL has any impact on that threat from any coaching staff; and I suspect that will be the pushback on negative recruiting from this staff. Harbaugh being open with it I think gives him points, I don't view it as a negative in a world where Brian Kelly dumps all his kids in the middle of the night for LSU.

Ryan Day and Mel Tucker have not openly said that they want to coach in the NFL. Harbaugh did. There’s a massive difference.

It is commendable that he was open and honest about it. It doesn't change the fact he was out the door if the Vikings offered him the job. Do you think ANYONE believes him now when he said Michigan is where he wants to be? It is only where he is at because he didn't get the job.

And rumors about coaches going to the NFL is WAAAAY different than saying you are taking the job if it is offered and telling your staff to take a week off because you are going to interview.

I know you are one of the biggest UM homers around, but even this situation I'd think you see where the huge issues are that UM will have.

I agree we will promote coordinators from within, because we aren't convincing anyone to come over unless the school guarantees their full contract if Harbaugh leaves.
I hope the school tells Harbaugh, he can be the coach this year, but we are going to be looking to upgrade next year.

Well Ohio State played a game missing 20+ players & the HC. JH was scared of the Buckeyes in 2020. So he refused to play them.

It was Maryland, not Ohio State that cancelled. But I can see how it would be easier for you to blame the Buckeyes even though they didn't cancel that game.

Ohio State "refused" to play Indiana in 2020? Very odd thing for you to say considering the Buckeyes beat the Hoosiers 42-35.

UofM finally beats Ohio State and some of you fans are acting like ann arbor now owns Columbus. Funny stuff.

It's interesting that JH has now lost his OC & DC though.

But a legit congrats on that long awaited W. Last season UofM were the better, more experienced and hungrier team and it showed on the field from start to finish. I expect things to be different this season when they play in Columbus.

Dude... What happened this year at ND and Oklahoma were anomalies. Nobody foresaw those coming and I don't expect that type of stuff to become the norm. There are inherent advantages to being a successful head coach at a blueblood when it comes to recruiting. You also know the resources you need to be successful will always be there. They're simply not stepping stones.

So you take one freaked out year in the last 100 years of CFB and say it's the norm. LOL

They are the norm for Oregon though. I'll give you that. Oregon has been a stepping stone.

I don't think they are. I think that's the new world order. It's possible they are, but based on how much that happened this year I don't think it is. Texas A&M is giving position coaches $1 million + salaries to try and retain them. Things are getting weird.

We're talking head coaches at blueblood schools here, other than Oregon who doesn't belong in the conversation with ND and Oklahoma.

Position coaches take promotions all the time and always have.

If USC can poach a coach from OU, and LSU can poach a coach from ND, and Miami can poach from Oregon, then nothing is safe. And it's clear this is the new normal.

Oregon has been the best team in the Pac12 for the past decade. Sure, they're not USC. But a team like Miami that's been in the dumps for two decades, has terrible facilities and a terrible fan base poaching a coach away from them was shocking. And it's not like 2021 was an anomaly. A&M hired Jimbo away from Florida State for god's sake -- a guy who won a national title there. Heck, even at a lower level MSU poached Mel Tucker in February away from Colorado after signing day and after he said he wasn't going anywhere. Again, this is the new normal.

I don't think recruits will think much about Harbaugh's open flirtation with the NFL.

Oregon had previously lost a coach to FSU. Oregon does not belong in the conversation with USC, Oklahoma, or Notre Dame. PERIOD!!

Your original point was that all coaches out recruiting are going to start telling recruits and their parents "No big deal. I may not be there but you can always transfer out if I leave"

That is dumbfuckery of the highest order.
