Say it with me: Deion has done a good job at Colorado

It's interesting with Deion.

When you look strictly at the records, he definitely improved the program taking them from 1 win to 4 wins and now 9 wins. By that measure he's done a good job.

On the other hand, you can't dismiss SOS and given some of the losses, it looks like they end up with a worse record if they faced a stronger schedule.

I'd say that he'd done a good job, but maybe not as good as he's been given credit for.

This is why context matters. Deion coaching that 1-11 team in 2022 would have likely gone 1-11 as well. He was an elite player and he's used his notoriety very well in getting some big name recruits to play for him. That by no means he's a good coach, which to this point I'm not sure you can argue he is. He's yet to beat a single team of any real quality, and he's gotten smoked multiple times. His plan of constant roster turnover isn't going to win many games, and in time people are going to realize all the flashiness of "coach prime" doesn't actually mean anything.

I mean.. can't we say that about almost any team?

And by doing a quick search, I show four different sites giving them a 60, 45, 43, 64 SOS. That's top half in the nation.

Media overrates him. And to consider him for an NFL head coaching gig seems insane. But on The Hoop, some of these posters give him zero credit. See @Across The Field's post a few minutes ago.

People hate him because of his loudmouth, he's 'flashy', and he gets constant media coverage. Fair enough. To say "by no means he's a good coach" is hilarious tho.

"He's famous so he gets good players" Why is this even a knock?
"He's played an easy schedule" Not according to the SOS metrics
"Muh roster turnover" Welcome to 2025 CFB

Who gives a fuck about any of that if you're improving and winning??

1. Nobody is knocking him for attracting talented players because of his notoriety. I actually complimented him for this. It's the players themselves that are idiots for playing for a coach only because he used to be an elite player.
2. If Colorado continues to improve somehow next year and actually beats anyone of merit, I'll give him credit. He has accomplished nothing thusfar.

That was kind of my point. He's flipped the vast majority of his roster both seasons and they still improved.

Have they? Or have they just beaten a bunch of bad teams? Going from the Pac-12 schedule they played in 2023 to the Big 12 schedule they played in 2024 made a huge difference. They will have gone the entire season only facing one ranked team, and that was BYU in their bowl game, and they were demolished.

So all 11 of their Pac 12 losses were to better teams than their 9 wins this season?

His presence has upgraded the overall talent, which is what has produced the wins. It's no surprise that he upgraded the talent...he's a well known HoF player, so some players will go there just because of his name.. That upgrade in talent is bound to add a least a couple more wins.

As to whether or not he can coach....I think 2 seasons in a rebuilding program isn't a big enough sample size to say definitively 1 way or the other.

If I'm a Colorado fan...I don't really have any complaints so far.

Next year will be a big test for him his son at QB and Hunter really did carry the team a lot.

He's replacing son QB with either a true frosh or the Liberty transfer who dropped off big time in 2024.

Including Hunter the top 4 WRs are all gone as well.

The transfer portal class is big again but there's not much wow factor there.

That's quite the leap there, and not really what I was getting at. Also they only had 8 losses in the Pac 12.

Like I said, they took a pretty big step down in terms of schedule difficulty. Who was their best win? 8-5 Baylor? They missed the top 3 teams in the conference during the season only to face one of them in a bowl game and get destroyed. Of their 9 wins, a whopping 2 were against teams with a record over .500.

Deion now on record as talking to Raiders and Cowboys about their HC spots. Can I get a check in @Brutus and @DJ Fieri ?

So Sanders is a near-certain to not be coaching at Colorado next year, but some people can't grasp that.
