Kirby Smart

He pushed the kid. That isn’t debatable. That is the point. He can claim he didn’t see him, which is odd unless he is color blind and has no peripheral vision. It doesn’t really matter. He pushed a kid. There should be accountability. Like saying I didn’t mean to push a girl and put her in the hospital.
I've had tunnel vision towards someone before and moved people out of my way without realizing who they were. It happens.

sounds like he is accountable. He watched the video and reached out to apologize. It's not like his monkey bit a kid.

Some have magic rocks. Some have jars of jizz.
One is real, one is made up by haters. Magic rocks are right up there with BYU magic underwear

So when does he get executed

Football doesn’t work like that. You do something outside the rules you get a penalty. Spewing BS doesn’t absolve facemasks or holding. It’s clear he pushed opposing player. He didnt bump him, he PURPOSEFULLY pushed him. That is not debatable. Unless you believe his arms moved involuntarily. Now he claiming he didn’t see him and was pushing a ghost. That doesn’t even matter. He did something incredibly stupid and should be help accountable like players are
LOL, then why didn't the two officials standing within 2 feet of the event throw flags? Because it's a nothingburger.

He did not purposefully, with intent, push the opposing QB. He pushed someone on the sideline when they accidently ran into each other. There was no malice. There was no mens rea (you can look it up). There was no intent. That's why it wasn't flagged. There isn't a rule against innocently pushing someone you run into on the sideline. Under what rule would you have Smart penalized? This should be interesting.

Commissioner said the officials should have thrown the flag for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. He didnt go beyond that, because he wanted this to die and not be an issue before maybe the biggest game of the season. I am not sure why people are trying to deny he intentionally pushed someone.

Nate Oats only got a public reprimand when he "shoved" that Missouri kid. Should be only thing done to Kirby. This is much adieu about nothing IMO.

I mean Kirbys was definitely more intense but harmless IMO. But the Barners on twitter are gonna cry because that's what they do.

Oates was breaking up a fight, so there is reasonable circumstances for his actions. That was much ado about nothing. Literally nothing going on for Kirby to lose his shit. Just undisciplined behavior, which is ironic given how much he is has complained about his team committing undisciplined penalties this year

Nate Oats should definitely be fired.

That is stupid. This would have likely been a brawl in 1980. Not sure you have ever played or coached, but it’s an unwritten rule opposing coaches do not talk to opposing players. That has started fights on HS and pop warner fields across the country. Putting your hands on another player is unacceptable. I really wish the MSU player decked him
Brawls can start at the drop of a hat nowadays as well. Some don’t care about suspension once they get their hackles up so the potential for something bad is there. Either from the QB or one of his hot head teammates that might be near. I would think the SEC would be more concerned than the Georgia brass.

That said, it does look like Kirby was after someone else and not the WB. He should just be more aware. Flip the script and he wouldn’t have liked it if it was his QB getting shoved.

……believe Kirby is a such a dickhead that he intentionally is just pushing people without even a thought to who he is shoving.
I think that is exactly what happened.

Which in my opinion deserves punishment, but accountability is not something we respect these days. Everything is about BS excuses

Nah, he knew someone was there but wasn't looking at who it was. He was locked in on someone who was about to get a new asshole ripped.
Hell yes he knew someone was there. He didn’t care if it was an opponent’s player, his own player, another coach, a manager, a trainer……. He wanted ‘em out of his way.

I agree only because there are many things done both proactively and reactively in order to deter and/or prevent things that can possibly initiate escalation and get out of hand. I don’t think he should have to give up his first born but poor judgement/actions deserve consequences.. even if minor ones.

He meant to push someone, obviously. But it is equally obvious that he didn't know who he pushed, it wasn't like he went hunting for the opposing teams QB to push him. That's why this is nothing. If he had purposefully gone after the QB, and it wasn't just incidental contact, a lot more would have and should have happened. That's why I have persisted in this thread and why it's no big deal. There was inadvertent contact with an opposing player. Something obviously to be avoided, but not a big deal to anyone but opposing fanbases who would love to see something happen to their rivals.

Sankey:

“Coaches cannot make contact with an opposing player,” Sankey said in a statement emailed to the Athens Baner-Herald. “This play should have resulted in enforcement of an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. As Kirby discussed in his press conference today, he has appropriately reached out to Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby and quarterback Michael Van Buren. I am confident the contact was not intentional and the clear expectation is this conduct will not happen again.”

That's the difference. Had it been intentional, then all the bad things opposing fans would have wanted would have been justified, and I would have agreed with that.

This is what I mentioned about accountability. Your stance is he was out of control, so he shouldn’t be held accountable. I believe as a leader of the program he should be held accountable for being out of control. He is quite vocal about holding his players to that standard

Also contact was unintentional is laughable. You can’t watch that video and say the push was unintentional. You can question if he intentionally meant to push a MSU player, but not pushing someone

Good god. Tie some kerosene rags around your ankles so ants don’t eat your candy ass

Like I said, I hope your team is as soft as you on Saturday
