What you are describing in the post above is not a 'good' movie. it's serviceable. and im glad you enjoyed it.

it reminded me of Axe Cop on the Fox ADHD late night block where the guy would animate stories his 5 year old brother would tell.

It was a weak sauce effort to try to get it in the same category as Die Hard. The dude doesn't like Christmas. The following year they go to Tahiti or whatever for Christmas.

christmas was a central theme for the plot, just go with it, tahiti christmas was mentioned in the first 5 minutes for that years plan.

Nothing about it was Christmas. The writing was horrendous. I don't need movies to be realistic, but this was so unbelievable it takes you out of the movie. Waste of Bateman and Egerton. Last half hour was completely unnecessary.
 
Hogfather is the only Christmas movie I make sure to watch every year.

and MST3K's Santa Claus conquers the Martians and Santa Clause. The latter is like a fever dream on acid. lol
 
Just finished the book so I watched the movie again, The Martian. Like it a lot.

They went for the big finish, unlike the book. No Ironman in the book.
