Last time your team lost to an unranked G5 or FCS team

Montana State in the FCS semifinals.

Using gameday rankings instead of end of season rankings is dumb.

Toledo is more recent than App State if that takes the sting away

in some ways, 2008 Toledo might have been worse. A 3-9 MAC team is probably worse than a decent chunk of FCS teams, especially a 13-2 FCS team that won the FCS Championship. Not to mention I thought that was a much sloppier game than App State. 10 points against a defense averaging 31.4 PPG? 290 yards on 4.4 yards per play against a defense averaging 381.4 yards and 5.5 yards per play? It took 27 pass attempts for us to get 120 passing yards. Only one receiver averaged over 10 yards per reception.

That's not to say that App State was without it's frustrations (Henne was blah and the defense struggled), but Toledo was a masterful display of ineptitude.

Even though it was this season, are we still using the old "early losses don't matter as much" frame of mind?

What week is this? I guess Marshall week 2.

Never played an FCS school but that changes next year.

Gameday unranked, counting this year? My team got boatraced by a bunch of pirates a few weeks ago. It wasn’t pretty.

Gameday unranked, before this year? They got murdered in Dallas. About a year ago. By a mediocre SMU team.

Final unranked? See above.

It's happened too many times, I started blocking them out

2016

Iowa lost to North Dakota State (only time Iowa has lost to FCS/DI-AA. Interesting, that same year, Iowa beat #2 (Game day rankings) Michigan.
That sucked, but we should have lost to UNI in 2009. It took 2 blocked FGs in the final 5 seconds or so to stop that upset.
