Let’s start with the assumption that 20 teams are in bowl games (yes I know it’s more but it doesn’t change the difference). A 12 team playoff would have 4 opening round games, 4 second round, 2 semis, 1 finals. The other 8 non playoff teams play 4 bowl games. That’s 15 games total.

8 team playoff = 4 opening round, 2 semis, 1 finals. The 12 non playoff teams would play 6 bowl games. That’s 13 games.

So yes, 12 team playoffs is more football.
