Let's see how long the 12 team CFP takes tp get here when this happens ...

It's mid September. Everyone still thinks every contender is going to win out. History tells us that is unlikely. A 12-1 PAC 12 Champion, especially if it's Oregon, will get in. I'm not worried about that.

My concern is about the 9 game PAC 12 schedule, I think it's very possible that Oregon ends the regular season with 2 losses still. They'll be favored the rest of the way but not by as much as some people think.
Good point. Nearly every team is composed of 18-22 year olds who go completely brain dead at times and throw in a clunker of a game...or two. Just since the CFP began several of the champs have had head scratching losses somewhere along the way. Key is being able to pull out some "clunker wins" so you don't fall far enough to eliminate yourself.

Yep. IIRC your bucknuts lost the 2nd week of the 2014 season...also in the Horseshoe. And that turned out okay for 'em didn't it?
The Big 12 trying to claim Baylor and TCU as co champs helped OSU’s cause. TCU dropped from like third to like 6th after destroying Iowa State in their final game IIRC.

But it’s probably a good thing. Bama probably wins another natty if OSU is left out that year

It's unfortunate Ohio State got in. Oregon probably wins their first natty if OSU is left out that year.

Bama looked like the clear second best team to me, but I would have been pulling for Oregon. I pulled for them against OSU too

That little fact was a much larger :headscratch: to me than Ohio State getting selected. Cynical side of me says it sent a message from the committee like "You should have lost to Iowa State or only won a close game. Then we'd have moved you up."

Tbh, I'd probably put money on Bama and UGA making it at this point. The hilarious scenario would be if UGA, Bama and ND made it(I know we suck) but then only 2 conferences would get in.

I think if we win out we still likely get in unless some crazy shit happens.

Clemson is probably in the same boat, except they have a way easier ride.

I guess it depends on if you think a 12-1 SEC runner up gets left out in place of OSU. OSU has PSU and Michigan left(top 25) then another game against presumably Iowa in the B10 CG. Are 3 ranked wins enough? I'd be curious.

It's not even about pointing at a particular game. We've seen countless games where someone came out of nowhere an upset a playoff team/contender. South Carolina/Georgia, Kansas State/Oklahoma, Arizona State/Oregon, Purdue/Ohio State, Syracuse/Clemson, etc. Bottom line is it's hard to go undefeated. It's hard to finish 12-1. Far too many people in September expect 5-6 teams to be there at the end of the season, which is very unlikely.

If ND can limp dick their way undefeated they are getting in. IDK if they get in with 1 loss though

The ACC would claim you at that point for PR.

We definitely aren't getting in with a loss.

0-9 in conference and 2-10 overall Iowa State

Did beating the brakes off of them warrant such a big drop in the rankings?
I think you have the wrong year tho.
2014 they played ISU early. finished with K State. stayed 5. lost bowl fell to 7

You have the wrong year.

TCU beat Iowa State 55-3 in the last regular season game, destroyed Ole Miss in their bowl game and finished ranked third. And they were third in the committee rankings before the Iowa State game, then dropped to 6 afterwards.

The 2014 Big 12 was a bit of a clusterfuck, Baylor should have been crowned the conference champs, because in what world is head to head not a tiebreaker, but TCU was clearly the better team, and the committee had them ranked higher than Baylor pretty much the entire season.
