Lincoln Riley is a dumbass

Absolutely USC is worth it at that cost. Get paid roughly the same, to work in a less stressful place and an easier path to the playoffs. We just saw Dan Mullen get fired after making it to the sec championship game last year and nearly beat Bama. Orgeron fired after a couple years removed from winning it all. Even the generally shitty teams in the conference have unrealistic expectations. USC kept Clay Helton for 6 full seasons without ever really putting together a contending team (outside of the 2016 season). Both schools have plenty of local talent to make recruiting easier (although I think its easier for LSU to keep its local talent).

And while its not end all be all of the discussion, southern cal > new orleans as far as living.

People can say its a pussy move all they want, but its just a smart business decision. There's going to be 16 teams in the SEC. Nearly half of which expect to be fighting for natties each year. Which is just unrealistic and leaves half of those coaches on the hot seat after just 2-3 years in. Whereas the Pac has really just the 2.
yeah, job stability has to play a role here. All those SEC programs want to win nattys and conference titles and with the additions of Texas and Oklahoma to the conference that road becomes even more difficult.

USC gave Helton 6 years and some change to prove his worth.

1. Federal tax rate is the same across states, so mentioning the Federal tax rate in this discussion is moronic. Not surprised you brought it up.
2. Sure it is.
3. Glad you agree with me.

You are NOT counting Federal + State and that was my point. He is paying a far larger chunk than $ 1 Million in taxes.

There's no avoiding the subject, since USC has pulled Lincoln Riley and *if they can start winning they're extremely likely to end up with the highest paid CFB team in the country due to NIL deals. We're talking about the entertainment and media capital of the world. The $$$ will roll in.

Careful, you risk being called a non-classy trash poster by our resident NIL expert.....

Read your own question dummy. Do you math at all?

Opportunity is a word you may need to google the definition on before you make more of an ass out of yourself Dummy.

opportunity - a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.

You sure are an argumentative retard for someone who has trouble comprehending the opportunities in a city of 4 million as opposed to a city of only 90 thousand.

Alabama has the best NIL deals right now yet they are NO WHERE near a media center. Being next to a media center is no longer a requirement.

Geez, you guys continue to live in the pre-internet era.

Great self-own going on here

That "Jolley" dude (whoever the hell he is) doesn't seem to understand that there's a reason why most people making this kind of moolah (or more) have GOOD CPAs and Tax Lawyers...

You really don't understand the word "opportunity", do you?

No one is also talking about the cost of living difference.

For example, a $ 1 Million house in Norman will be at least $ 5 - 10 Million in Los Angeles.

As one poster put it, it is all a matter of tastes. We can just leave the thread at that. Someone people like that lifestyle and some do not.

This is where you guys are missing the point of the whole discussion. Oklahoma is already there on the map, USC isn't right now. He has opportunity with USC sure but you can say that about most CFB programs.

He was saying the delta in taxes between the two locations is about $1MM, which sounds about right. You’d also have to factor in the higher cost of living as well. However, given the amount he got sounds like it was around $3MM more than his other suitors, it sounds like he got that covered.

The opportunity at USC is greater than any other program except maybe UCLA.

That is debatable. I would say Texas is the strongest program for NIL opportunities if they could get the right coach. I would also put Ohio State ahead of USC just due to the sheer size of their fanbase and resources. Alabama is another one that is arguable.

Back in the day, Notre Dame would also be another option. One issue with USC is that they are still on the West Coast and they just don't get the matchups.

Take Oklahoma. When they move to the SEC, if they get to play Alabama, LSU, etc. regularly than they are going to be on TV far more often and talked about a lot more in the media.

USC can definitely pull it off but they would have to play big-time OOC games and win them like in the Pete Carroll era.

See we can actually post and argue logically without resorting to immature name calling. :).

I guess I'll have to spell it out for you as you seem too dumb...

Two players on two college teams are in contention for Heisman trophy. Both have an NIL deals where they make money on every jersey sold with their name on it.

Every fan in the cities these schools are located in, wants a jersey with their players name on it.

Los Angeles has a population of nearly 4 million. Tuscaloosa has a population of only 90,000.

Which city represents the best "opportunity" to sell these jerseys?

A. I'm dumb at math and don't understand what opportunity means so I'll say Tuscaloosa.

B. Well you'd have to be a retard not to think L.A.

Which one did you choose Moron?

Yeah, to be fair, I didn't know the full contract deal when I made the original post. I probably would have changed my tune had I realized it was $ 15 Million a year. That does play a major part.

No one knows if that is true. Young has a freaking fantastic set of deals but there isn’t anything that is actually tracking NILs. The truth is no one really knows yet how teams are doing to even do a comparison.
