This shit is really good.

Hell of an episode on Sunday.

Two left. Lotta potential suspects still. Hope it sticks the ending.

Outstanding show.
One more episode to go

So damn good. Such a pleasant surprise.

Still not entirely sure who is behind it all. The set up has been awesome. Just need the explanation to fit.

The scene with the grandson was as intense a moment that I've ever encountered watching a show.

You kind of knew what was going to happen and it happened exactly the way you thought it would, but given the rest of the show, there was enough doubt where you were like, "Yeah, they could go in that direction....".

Outstanding writing and acting.

Again, we've been lead down a path on how the show might end, but there's just too many variables lurking.
It seems so cut and dry, but there has to be more twists.
Given how gut wrenching the show has been, I just don't think Mare wraps this up all neat and tidy.

What was in the journals?
What was the picture shown to the chief?
Is Siobahn involved in this?

1. Probably a lotta shit in the journals. Mostly I think it just implicates Dylan and Co in other sketchy shit like drug deals and maybe prostituion.

2. Picture was definitely someone that ain't Billy....probably John.

3. I am not buying intot he Siobahn theories.

I was expecting more from Guy Pearce...

3. Agreed. It would be beyond devastating to have one kid kill themselves and another one be a murderer. But, it is intriguing and I think Siobahn is inadvertently involved. Maybe there's something in her video. I'll get to that later.

1. I'm thinking Dylan and his bud are red herrings. There is a chance they could be involved somehow. See below.

2. The Ross family is certainly involved. One possibility is that John is the father and coerced Billy into killing her. But, the way that John gets Billy to admit that he killed her seems off. Is it possible that Lori found out John was the father and she killed her? And now John is trying to cover it all up by framing Billy to protect 'the family'?

The one nugget I get caught up on is from Episode 5. The girls mention something about poker night. Which means this guy had friends. Or what if he had accomplices in their sexcapades endeavor? Although, we probably would have known if Billy, John, Frank, or any other folks actually knew this guy. Word would have gotten around in a small town. It's probably nothing.

If all of them were involved, what if Erin was blackmailing all of them? That's why Frank helped her out. That's where the money that Dylan found came from.

There are also theories linking Kevin to Erin and him possibly being the father. That might also explain why Frank was helping Erin out. And if Erin started blackmailing everyone to pay for A.J.'s ears, someone decided to do something about it. The Ross family was willing to do whatever it took to protect their family name.

What's amazing is that there are so many good theories out there that it's a testament to the quality of the writing.

Supposedly they had such a good time on a previous film that he did this as a favor to her.

Yeah there are so many possibilities.

Kevin being the father makes a lot of sense timeline wise(basically fits perfectly) and explains why Frank would drop off baby stuff. The part that does not add up with that though is Frank took a paternity test. He would be a partial DNA match if Kevin were the father.

I think at this point its pretty clear its the Ross family thats involved but who and what did they do

Father is John or Billy. I think its most likely John and he lied about it being Billy.

John is also a proven master manipulator and cheat so I think hes somehow manipulating Billy into taking the fall. But what was Billys involvement? Is he such a drunk he believes he did it? Did he simply just help move the body?

Lori is definitely a possibility out of jealousy and shes a relatively big time actress(especially in the tv and HBO landscape) so makes sense when making that hire.

I still find it unlikely that Ryan has anything to do with the kill even if he did show that bout of rage. I do think he more than likely knows about it and thats the secret.

3 interesting Tidbits though..

1. John and Lori if both involved, someone got involved after the fact. The day after the murder Lori was shocked when she got the call from Mare and John was shocked when Lori woke him up to tell him. It's just the two of them in that scene, no need to fake it.

2. Lori said this last ep that "this time feels different" with Johns cheating, she didnt see it coming. Really implies hes not actually cheating.

3. Kenny and Lori both had much different recollections of the cabin weekend. Kenny said it mostly rained so him, John and Billy got drunk and they all stayed in the Cabin. Lori called it a standard cabin weekend with grilling and outdoor activities. Could Kenny be such a drunk he only remember the drinking? Sure, but doesnt explain the weather. And Loris answer was very basic. I think she could definitely be lying.

Still an outside shot that Frank and Siobahn have bigger involvements too. What a show.

All good points.

Seems like it would have been an interesting plot device if Frank was a match on the paternity test and nobody realized Kevin was the father. Wonder how long before Lifetime or someone else makes that pitch for a new show.

In the picture with Erin kneeling over the dry firewood and Billy sitting down, there is another person in the background with their back turned towards us. Another clue? Ryan? Kevin?

I just realized when the girls mentioned the poker game, if all the people at the game knew the girls were down there, there would be no need to tie them up and gag them. So, that's just a red herring.

Ok....I’m one episode short of being caught up through Ep 6. I watched 1-5 while I worked yesterday, then the wife and I binged 1-5 in the evening. Of course we all fell asleep at the start of 6.

I’m going to catch that this morning....but couldn’t resist checking the posts here finally. When during the week do episodes drop on streaming for this show?

That’s the great catch to this show. Whodunit? I honestly stopped watching shows like any of the Law and Orders years ago as I got bored guessing the culprit 15 mins in so often. It’s hard to do serialized television and leave us guessing week after week.

This is why I’m a huge fan of the limited series....one season to drag it out and load it with red herrings along the way.....then wrap it up. I’m so done with Cliff hangers, and with so much out there competing for attention my batting average on making it back to a show for subsequent seasons is probably below the Mendoza line. Admitted.

I will say I didn’t buy the deacon from the get go. Too on the nose. Too topical. He was played just creepy enough to send you that direction. Even when he dumped the bike I didn’t buy into him.

I’ll be honest.....I bought into Guy Pierces character. From the get go. At least for Erin. New guy in town, new MO. Like what is the purpose for this guy? Is he really just meant to be the shiny lure to how great Mares like could be if she just drops the work? When the two girls came up alive I was really buying him on Erin...but we are going away from him at this point.

So maybe he is just the good that can come to her life if she just slows down. But, a guy who ignores you at a party is the vision of a happy life for Mare if she just slows down?

Finally....Kate Winslet has always been my “hall pass”. Reading she was middle aged doing a rough character who rarely does any makeup or even combs her hair was a real test....but I’ll be damned....she is still easily my hall pass by a mile.

Question for the more Philly locals. I moved away from there when I was 6 and have only been back for visits since. I know the accent of my family.....”wooder” for water and they call soda fucking “pop”....etc.

So I’m struggling through this at points....wondering....do these characters have the Delco accent down? When it comes to accents Kate is almost above reproach (read that she was the only actor that was comfortable slipping back to her natural voice between takes....all the rest were scared they would lose it if they did that).....but I did feel that things were off with the accent at times for many characters (including Mare).

Am I off base? I did hear a good point the other day that Baltimore and Philly accents might be some of the toughest accents to replicate out there.

I've been Delco for 40 years.
They nail the accent, the small town community, Wawa, Laspadas, etc.

Thanks. I just don’t have the ear right for it anymore. It seems like they held the accent well, but overstressed the accent on some words at times.

I used to go up there for half summers as a kid and come back home work the accent. Then it would be gone in two weeks when I got back. But that was a long time ago. Funny how living in such a place as Florida has a way of stamping out some accents. The Mrs grew up in Wisconsin....and that horrid accent only comes out on a few words anymore.

Ok...I got through Ep 6. What a killer show.

I see much more clearly how it revolves around the Ross family now. They are doing an excellent job on holding the cards close on just who while leading us in closer.

What the fuck is in the picture? My first thought is it proves the Ross family angle is the biggest red herring yet.

This is what I like about such well done TV. They could just as easily stick the finale on the Ross family as it could all be bunk (and tragic considering she is approaching a man with a big gun in the tackle box).

Enjoyed the call out to “heading up” to the Lehigh River. That’s my families old stomping grounds.

I was expecting more from Guy Pearce...
At this point I’m going to be pissed if it’s him at the center of this.

I’ll admit up front he was my odds on favorite. That’s just me trained by half a lifetime of Law and Order. But we have gotten so far down the rabbit hole at this point....if he shows up as, say, the father, it will feel like a lazy gotcha swipe. Cant see it as much anymore.

As for Guy Pearce....I guess I’m never not going to see Ed Exley whenever I see him in a role.

There's some embellishing, as you may have seen in the SNL skit, 'murdur durdur'.

I do say 'wooder', though.
But, not 'durdur'.
