Matt Olson inside the park homer

You want me to show you where a player was fined because he stopped playing? Can't do that. But I can tell you how the system does exist in MLB and MiLB for situations exactly like that.

"The term is sometimes used without any negative connotation. For example, many Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball teams have a kangaroo court to punish players for errors on the field, being late for a game or practice, not wearing proper attire to road games, or having a messy locker in the clubhouse. Fines are allotted, and at the end of the year, the money collected is given to charity or used for a team party at the end of the season.[14]

A notable example includes in 2008, Mariano Rivera, then closer for the New York Yankees, was fined by his teammates after Rivera assisted division rival Roy Halladay in developing Halladay's cut fastball, Rivera's signature pitch."

Another, my sons pitching coach played in the majors. When he was with the Mets in a game he took off his glove and threw it at a linedrive that was going over his head. His glove actually hit the ball, which gave the runner I believe another base. I asked him about that play and he got pretty pissed off. Some teammates were waiting for him in the hotel lobby after the game and told him they were fining him $10k for that play.

Again, if you don't know baseball then when you come here shut up and learn.

edit: He was with the dodgers at the time, my mistake.
I understand what the term "kangaroo court" means.

do you have an actual example of a runner stopping when running the bases because a player on the field got injured?

your example a player being fined by his teammates...not the "kangaroo court"

I can see maybe the Braves fining Olson but I highly doubt that happens

If you throw your glove and hit a batted ball, the batter is put on third base. It’s the closest thing to a ground rule triple

I understand what the term "kangaroo court" means.
Clearly you don't after your "this isn't the NFL" nonsense.

No, I don't have records of all kangaroo court situations :L

WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK MAKES UP THE KANGAROO COURT?? See, you have no idea what it means.
I can see maybe the Braves fining Olson but I highly doubt that happens
Dude, STFU already. It's not "the Braves" that would fine him, its his teammates.

ok so you are talking out of your ass because you have something against authority.

I gave up on your having any sort of logical sense a long time ago, so this all aligns

Yup, that's what happened. Then that runner scored and the dodgers lost by 1 run.
It’s the same if you use your cap or anything other than your glove or bare hand to field a ball. I remember a few years ago a catcher used his mask to scoop a slow roller and the hitter got third base

You don't understand how the kangaroo court in baseball works. As I said earlier, you can just ask and I'll explain it.

@ill in MLB what is a kangaroo court?

I get it.

and in your opinion, the kangaroo court would fine Olson for having stopped running the bases due to the injury in the field.

my response is that they would not because MLB isn't like that in regard to THIS SITUATION.

let me know if you need to hold your hand more, sweetheart

I get it.
You don't.

Yes, it is very likely

You don't know what the kangaroo court is, but you are certain how it would work in this situation.

cool.

LOL @ thinking locker room enforced fines are gonna be official MLB or team fines
His very first post he made it clear he didn't know what the kangaroo court was, so I told him. He then proceeds to tell me I'm wrong, about the thing he doesn't even know about, and now has morphed it into some sort of official league hearing. :pound:

this is the reason I don't play in the PF here.

Because we don't put up with people who don't know what they are talking about coming in and talking shit about the people who do?

for fuck's sake dude, I know what a kangaroo court is.

I just don't agree that the "kangaroo court" would levy a fine against Olson in this hypothetical situation we are discussing

there is no history of them fining a player for something like this and you can't back up you claims...case closed.

Why not? It's exactly why it exists! If you do something that hurts the team, or you do something stupid, or you make the team look bad, then they fine you.

because you are too dense to have an actual discussion.

first of all, the umps would need to call the play dead and that didn't happen.

if the team wanted to bench Olson for stopping, that's on them. I don't think they are that heartless to fine him though.

this is a difference of opinion between you and I

Again, the "team" isn't fining him. The court is fining him. If the ump calls the play dead then he has to stop running and there is no issue. If he stops running on his own, then the court could get involved. If they end up losing by a run then the court DEFINITELY gets involved.

The difference is that I know baseball and I know how the kangaroo court works. You still think it is the team or league. It's not, its the clubhouse leaders that set it up. The fines don't go to the team or the league, they go to a party or whatever else they decide to spend "the pot" on.

I have no issue helping you understand, but if you are going to be a dick about it then fuck off.

I am not arguing that this system doesn't exist, I just don't think they would fine him because he stopped running because of an injury on the field.
