I have tried the $5 Meal Deal a couple of times.

It was fine. Nothing wrong. It was McDonald's.

The McDouble was pretty good, but the chicken sandwich was dog shit.
Didn't need the nugets either.

Not sure why they don't offer a regular hamburger/fries/drink for $3.99.


My McDonald's doesn't even have any banners up or signage, or anything on the marquee.
Makes you wonder how into it these Francheeses are about it.

You have to know about it to order it, but they serve it right up.

I still go occassionally, especially on road trips. The two cheese burger combo perfect and easy to eat while driving. Last Saturday did that Gorman McDonalds on Intersate 5. Wife loves McDonalds Filet O' Fish. One thing about McDonalds it still tastes the same as it always has...if you stick to the originals. I am 63, and remember my first McDonalds. Homestead Road in Santa Clara. One of the first in the Bay Area. Just a hamburger, cheeseburger and fries in the paper pouch. Seating in benches outside. Before that all we had was Dairy Belle.

Whataburger has gone this route now too, since the family sold out to some Shitcago outfit. Now the patties are thinner, burgers are smaller, fries taste like shit, and only a matter of time before they start offering spin off shit like "boneless wings"

In the 60s, Carrols was the hamburger stand in town. A burger was 13 cents. They had a gravel parking lot. McDonald’s moved in 1 block away on the other side of the street. Their burgers were 15 cents. Their parking lot was paved. They ha supporting advertising. They put Carrols out of business. Some years later, Burger King opened ~1/2 mile away. They got enough business to stay open.

Before McDonald's out West was Munchy's. 12 cents. Got them in hamburger day in elementary school initially then they switched to McDonalds. Weird half dollar or so sized orange looking things, but hey for 12 cents went through a ton of them.

agreed. the menu was simple, everything was perfect. i even miss their salad bar. now they have all kinds of weird, overdone crap. even the mayo on their burgers tastes odd.

Mickie D’s briefly had a decent chicken biscuit, but the fucked that up when they introduced their “refreshed” chicken sandwiches. Their chicken is shit.

They also had a pretty good crispy chicken sandwich, until they fucked that up.
It was too nice to last long.
