morning folks

nice weekend at home...got some spring cleaning done around the house and got out for a golf tournament on Friday.

the team in front of us was TERRIBLE and somehow put in a 56 to get second place. They were a team from the local fire department. Some people...

Coached against an all-woman’s staff yesterday in flag football and less than half way through the game the HC started crying and walked off the field.

Never seen that before. 😬

Working from home today since the truck is in the shop. Got rear-ended on the interstate on Friday. Waiting to hear if its going to be totaled or fixed.

Also, pretty sure the driver that caused it was high. So that's fucking annoying.

there was going to be a work alumni golf outing, guess that has been cancelled, but happy hour carries on.

my office doesn't do group happy hours and I feel like that is a big gap in how we do things

oh mine doesn't either (we used to). hence this is an alumni outing...

that said did do paintball and went to a winery afterwards the other week with a select few.

Saturday did dinner with the in-laws. Yesterday was boardwalk rides. Nice weekend had by all.

Kind of a funny story about baseball. I communicate out with my parents about equipment each season and kind of just move on after that. I have one 10-year old that's practically my height but is a giant teddy bear. His dad bought him a bat, I didn't double check that it was to Little League specs (USABat). His dad winds up buying him a BBCOR bat, which has the same exit specs but is a heavier bat (again, my bad for not double checking), which, if anything, makes it harder for a 10 year old to hit since it's heavier (and BBCOR is approved in older Little League levels). Ump gets pissy at me for "letting this happen" and winds up emailing the league president over a kid hitting a ball 35-40 feet that died in the grass between the pitcher's mound and second base.

It's going to be funny if this kid starts mashing once we switch him to a lighter bat.

Baseball seems to be the one sport that its officials, the umpires, are usually jackasses starting shit. Normally in the other sports it's the parents & coaches. Maybe it's just the games I've been to and no I wasn't involved in any of the scuffle during. I only involved myself after the game to shame both teams coaches & spouses. The one pair was the umpire's parents as he was a teenager, but he did the right thing.

so was the ump's concern that the kid is at a disadvantage because of the bat?

sounds like guy is just downplaying his getting caught cheating.

those that don't put in the film work take shortcuts.

The maybe quarter of an MPH increase in exit velo on the squibber this d00d hit was the difference between the ball going four blades of grass further and thus leading to the pitcher throwing the ball to first wide of the bag.

The performance of BBCOR and USA Baseball bats are nearly identical (within about 0.005 BBCOR). The primary difference between the bats is USA Baseball bats do not have the -3 drop weight restriction. The lighter USA Baseball bats are easier to swing (particularly for developing hitters); this can result in higher batting averages, but not higher hit ball speed. The lighter USA Baseball bats will produce slightly lower hit ball speeds than the BBCOR bats.

Are they allowed to use USSSA bats or just USA?

Doubt it. As he said he should call the kid out for using an illegal bat.
he should...but it should be on you and the parents who bought it without checking the rules, as you said

afternoon all

Got some yardwork done, laid some grub killer down as the little bastards ate 1/3 of my front yard.

Saturday night went to a brewery then to dinner, so many kids at the brewery it was obnoxious. Brewery has a huge patio, so i get the draw, but wish they had an adult section. One kid kept screaming that was old enough to just continually scream. Fucking kids

Then went to golf course for dinner and got seated to family with two kids under 4. FML. The dad recognized the kids were being annoying so was taking them onto grass and playing with them so i didn't have to see or hear them

Biked about 10 miles on Saturday, going well. I think by the weekend I should be at my full 18 mile route and in few weeks, able to do the route without feeling like Ill day part way through

ok, I get it now. The bat produces faster balls off the bat...but the kid still doesn't have the strength to get it's full potential because he's soft.

My go-to at bat was pop out to shortstop....no one did it better than me...i was so good I retired from baseball to keep my legacy alive

and my fielding was hope no one hit it towards me and if they did, close my eyes and hold up my glove hoping for the best

I was really good at bunting

Did you tell her the Sarcastaball game was the next field over?

Been a minute since I was in LL, but I think the ump would look at the bats prior to play.
