TV Series Mindhunter

It is really popular and could be a reason for people to stay with Netflix. however I think this has more to do with the writers and director having other projects right now.

Probably another thread, but I'm about done with netflix. Can't remember the last time I watched something on it.
Once the office is gone, I’ll dump it for a while. I cancelled my subscription out of protest when they cancelled Santa Clarita diet. Ended up bringing it back for stranger things and kept it because I missed having the office on hand. So I’ll just do that, renew for a month if there’s something I like that drops, but they are way too loose and indifferent about their original content that develops loyal followings for me to want to keep supporting them regardless of what’s on, and once they don’t have the only go-to show that I’d miss without a subscription, fuck em.

Problem is that the biggest new streaming options are Disney+ and AppleTV, neither of which would allow this to be on their service. Mindhunter would be amazing on HBOMax though.
I could see HBO Max. It kind of plays like an HBO show anyway.

I was thinking more lower tier streamers that want to get up to the big leagues. Having a few successful shows that are already built out could be good strategy. Netflix did this a little when they were really expanding. Challenge is that Netflix already had a much larger subscriber base and money to use. I can’t think of one lower tier that’s trying to get into the streaming game or has the positioning to take this strategy.

Maybe Hulu is one that grabs it....Hail Mary.

The issue I’ve seen brought up with other networks picking up abandoned Netflix shows, is Netflix doesn’t let it happen. They own the rights and sit on them and aren’t interested in letting them go. So don’t expect any of your favorite Netflix shows that are axed to be saved by someone else.

They just let One Day at a Time go to CBS. that is not a show I have ever watched, but that was a successful show for them.

To my knowledge, this is the first time a show has gone from streaming service to network.

That’s a good point. But, as shown, how about they rarely let it happen. And they aren’t going to give up the rights to Mindhunter to someone that wants to compete with them for peanuts. I’m sure CBS paid more than peanuts for One Life at a Time.

Yeah I ignored that for a while then got hooked and binged both seasons. I was really hoping they would do a 3rd season, but not looking good last I read.
Really?

I was really anticipating the BTK, but I figured given the rate of the timeline, it would need another 2 seasons at least. I wonder what all decisions go into this, because everyone I know that has seen it, really likes the show. Maybe needs more/better marketing. Great show.

Damnit....I really like Fincher and don’t want to be pissed at him. But I am. The cost thing feels like bullshit. Unless.....Netflix was pushing demands to make it cheaper.

I.....can t even venture what makes it so expensive.

I wonder if he just finds the television production for a streamer to not be his cup of tea.

Maybe he will see way to put the rest of this story into film, but doubtful.

So....fuck....I was really looking forward to seeing them and BTK crossing paths.

BTK is the guy they have been building up to, right? All the little mysterious scenes? I figured that was supposed to be Rader, but had never heard anything definitive.

I don’t remember it being said explicitly in the show. But the character looks just like Radar, does alarm install in Kansas and does freaked out rituals. It’s implicit as hell.

Yes, that’s BTK. And it was going to be a smart historical tie further to the BSU, which had a huge part in finally getting him.

I watched a documentary on him. I don't remember any mention of the fbi.

I’ll be damned....I was just presuming I was right that all the BTK snipets was leading to the true to life story.

Technically Bill Douglas (Holden in the show) did interview him. But it was the locals that caught him.

One could question if he just wanted to be caught and recognized at that point in some subliminal way.

I really think he was just unbelievably arrogant.

After I watched the first season when it came out, I youtubed a bunch of the interviews Kemper did and it was eerily spot on. Creepy.

I fucking loved it lol.

Fucking Orange is the New Black got like 7 seasons and it was dumb as fuck.... I don't actually know, I didn't watch it because it looked stupid.

So now 2 of the better series on Netflix have been canceled; Mindhunter and Punisher. I swear if they cancel Peaky Blinders....
