Monday morning at tNation

Youngest daughter had a gymnastics competition yesterday. Afterward, we went to dinner. She picked BJ’s (because all she really wanted was a pizzookie). We ordered some calamari for an appetizer and the waitress said she’s sorry, but they’re out. Apparently, they’ve been out for months. How does a decent-sized chain restaurant get out of an everyday item for months? Is there a squid shortage?
One of the grocery stores near me only has crab cakes in their cheapo premade freezer section. They normally would also have spicy crab and salmon cakes.

I'm guessing there's a shortage of employees and the suppliers are prioritizing either what sells the most or what makes them the most money.

the fucking chicken fridge at the grocery store is picked clean the last week I have gone...same with milk

plenty of ribeyes if you want to pay for that shit...
Mrs Redfoot said chicken has been missing lately around here.

Ribeyes aren't shit.

Can confirm. We were victims of the dreaded BJ's calamari shortage last month and were told the same thing.

Have since had calamari at three other restaurants.
I think the issue is like most chain restaurants, they make everything somewhere else and can’t just go out and buy more squid like a restaurant that makes everything in-house. Just one more reason to avoid chain restaurants.

"Coach" Mike Ditka shilling for CarShield: "Listen, all eyes on me!"

LOL

Can't find a bag of fucking Fritos anywhere

squid games depleted the population.

Probably correct here. They probably have a supplier that sends them breaded calamari to fry up, and isn't making it right now.

At Boston Market, they made the chicken and the cornbread from scratch. Just about everything else came pre-packaged and in some cases already cooked.

Still can't find chicken wings or flats. I did see drumsticks, which has been a rarity. Have been in the mood for some lemon pepper flats lately and can't scratch the itch.

Unfortunately the chain restaurants can absorb the hit caused by the Covid virus. The family owned restaurants are the ones closing.

Trying to get work done for the week today & tomorrow. Lil W has surgery Wednesday & observation Thursday. Nice to rest this weekend before our non stop running the next 2.5 months. 49ers squeaked in the playoffs!

so my mom convinced us to join her in Puerto Rico for a week in April to celebrate her 70th birthday. That should be pretty great.

I didn't know you were Puerto Rican.

Any idea where you’ll be staying?
in San Juan, near Dorado Beach

her friend's family is set up there.

I am hoping to get a day where I can get out to Rincon to do some surf lessons
