Most Deserving Champions Ever - Ohio State Buckeyes 2024

We have bragging right over everyone because nobody else could do what we did. We're the best team in college football and it's causing you to have a total meltdown.

Not even the SEC shill clowns at ESPN are trying to downplay our national title, but that won't stop the resident idiots on message boards from doing it.

There's nothing to even downplay. We were clearly the best team in the nation this year. Only those who are broken in the head would even bother trying to complain.

That’s not true, 7 other teams lost to Michigan.

Not better than Michigan though.

7 teams lost to michigan, then michigan was given credit for a game Ohio State beat themselves in. Then we went on an historic run and won the title. You can come to grips with that fact or not, doesn't change the fact that Ohio State is the best team in college football and made history.

Lol we were clearly better than michigan. Everyone understands that but you.

Bragging about in the grand scheme meaningless regular season games is very much OD level stuff.

You have to this of FBS football as NFL lite in this day and age. If you NFL team gets swept by your division rival in the regular season but wins the super bowl do you even care? Answer is no.

lol. What. bragging about winning the game is now “OD level”. Man. You guys have been poisoned by soft Ryan day.

Not bashing just asking what would Ohio States record been if they played Florida or OU's schedule? Still make the playoffs?

Think most CFB fans agree the UM/OSU rivalry is the #1 rivalry. But now with the expansion of 12 teams and more coming, it takes a little luster off the rivalries. Case in point this year - it use to be a do or die game, now it’s bragging rights. Guess there will be a year where they meet in the playoffs to have the do or die scenario.

It's not like their schedule was weaker than Florida or OU's.

Considering we smoked Tennessee and beat Texas, 100% yes.

Those schedules don't like as rigorous as the earlier season hype now that everything has been settled out.

THe annual claims that some mediocre SEC team would be a playoff contender with Ohio State's schedule and Ohio State would be like a 8-4 team with their schedule are old and tiring

Ohio State's Defense finished the season:

#1 in Scoring Defense
#1 in Total Defense
#1 in Total Yards Allowed Per Play
#1 in Total TDs Allowed Per Game
#1 in Opponents Total TDs Scored in Redzone (and played 16 games)
#2 in Sack Yards
#2 in TFL Yards
#2 in Total Sacks
#2 in Passing TDs Allowed Per Game
#2 in Opponent Red Zone Score %
#2 in Opponent Red Zone TD %

#3 in Rushing Defense
#3 in Passing Defense
#3 in Sacks/Game

#5 in Total TFL

#6 in Passing Yards Allowed Per Attempt

#10 in Total Forced Fumbles

All this while beating six teams that were ranked in the Top 10 in the final AP Poll (Final Scoring Offense National Rank in paratheses):
#2 @NDFootball (#10)
#3 @oregonfootball (#17)
#4 @TexasFootball (#29)
#5 @PennStateFball (#28)
#9 @Vol_Football (#12)
#10 @IndianaFootball (#2)

These teams collectively averaged 35.7 points per game for the season and Ohio State held them to an average of 19.2 points per game.

The entire coaching staff and all the players deserve a hand. The year before @CoachJimKnowles was hired this defense was ranked #59 in Total Defense.

We are lucky to have the coaches we have on that side of the ball.

Pretty much everyone going forward will look like that. It is called the expanded playoffs. Like I said OSu didn’t win their conference, they weren’t even #2, and only beat 1 conference champion (in a rematch of a game they lost). They are not some all-time great team. I think most rational people will agree with me. OSU fans acting like OD intent on self-fellating themselves will disagree

No one is calling them an all time great team, but just crediting them with having to go through quite a gauntlet to get there. This was because of the playoffs but I'd be willing to bet most teams don't have a resume like that moving forward even with the playoffs. Just look at the other teams this season that had a chance. Texas would have beaten the number 14, 7, 5 or 6 (depending on where Ohio State fell), and the 2. That's not even close to the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10. Notre Dame would have had 21, 10, 6, 5, and 2. Little closer but still far off.

Once again, this isn't a best team ever thread

Ohio State was #4 in the conference for only 1 reason -

Ohio State Played #1 Oregon, #2 Penn State and #3 Indiana.

None of those 3 teams played each other.
