Muscle cars that turn you on

I was getting ready to post this after reading the first few pages, thinking to myself "where the hell is the late 60s Chevelle?!?"

Sidenote: My dad had 70 SS Nova. Guy he bought it from used to race it, had a modified big block in it. I learned to drive stick in that thing...I'm not sure what my dad was thinking. Remember driving a "modern" stick shift for the first time and thinking to myself "holy shit this is easy"
I learned to drive a stick shift in a old farm truck. 4 on the floor and sloppy as a soup sandwich.

The clutch was loose as shit and had a sweet spot at 3/4 pedal.....

If he built it right, that SS Nova had a Race Clutch, which meant more pounds of pressure, and a lot more leg strength when engaging/disengaging, but you probably experienced less slippage than most do when they learn to drive stick.

Here's my side note: For you first timers who plan to get a high HP Muscle Car, you will need a Race clutch, or you will be burning up them standards clutches left and right. Now with that, here's the important part, if you have a Race clutch, you now have the perfect excuse to keep your old lady out from behind the wheel, cause if she ever gets stuck in traffict, unless she's a big beefy girl (You know, just like @SJ76 likes 'em) she's not gonna make it home, and she'll be bitching about her leg hurting for weeks to come.

(By the way, 'No' 'Va' in Spanish means ... 'No' 'Goes')

I’ve got a big beefy truck I love ❤️. She’s a beeeeyute

The same buddy that had the Cougar had this before the Mercury.
1971 Plymouth Duster 340
Had bondo in all 4 corners, 3 on the floor, shook you to death, would get up and go.

So light weight. The shaking only made it feel faster.
I think he had it maybe 4 months.

This same color too.

My folks had an early '70s Duster, a nice shiny blue. Didn't get rid of it until the mid-80s. I tried to track it down to restore a couple years ago. It had been scrapped.

65 Riviera GS. I believe it was the only year that Buick did the hide away headlights on the early Rivies. The Riviera's had 425c.i. Wildcat V-8's with 340hp which made a trip to the opera in your personal luxury vehicle a bit more fun.

I've always been disappointed that they never did a rag top version, but I did find a gorgeous rendering of what it would look like.

The muscle car that started it all, the 1957 Chrysler 300C.

392c.i. V-8 with 375hp and loaded with luxury appointments.

I don't really remember experiencing having to put more pressure down. I know the damn thing didn't have power steering and was a bitch to turn at a stand still. Also, it definitely did not follow it's spanish meaning cause that thing went, and in a hurry

Dudes don't notice, and even chicks, they may notice, but wont say shit, until they get stuck in traffic for any period of time. Then in that circumstance, even you and I would notice. But maybe it had a standard clutch? If your not racing it around (Using all that HP) you wont burn through those standard clutches. Just saying with all that HP, I'm certainly going to tap into it every now and then, otherwise why have it?

I was 16-17 and will readily admit I was terrified of it.

Not a muscle car, but what do y’all know or think of a 1967 Plymouth Valiant? It’s a 4 door with the slant 6 in it. A guy I work for has it in his yard and I’ve inquired about it several times. He’s never said he wouldn’t sell it, but only that it isn’t worth anything. I think that I’m going to make him a low ball offer and see if he bites. I just like the car for some reason.

Similar to this one. The wheels are a little different, but still custom

Fuck Yeah
I'm trying to see if this thing has parts for the desirable units, like fenders, glass, etc.
That might make the price go up a lot.

excited fuck yeah GIF

Yea, my brother and I were talking about that. The grill, the tail lights, the trim, lettering, head lights, dashboard, pretty much everything is there and looks original. The only question we had was if the trim around the windows was originally chrome, because it’s red now and it’s obvious that the car has had a paint job.

Nevermind, I see the chrome around the windows of that one in the picture. Not that That would bother me.

This was my HS car in the late 70's, well... except I didn't have the 396, I had the 69' Malibu 307. It was my first engine rebuild...

My buddy had a 66' or 67', lifted in the rear with some fat tires, it was bad ass!

Man the way the inset rear glass looked when that car was lifted was just amazing!
lil brother got a 67,
back in the early 80s -
same pretty blue -
with big meats n rims
with the 2-stick trans shifter
and the big block -

I dig the late 60s Valiant. It does sound like it’s far from ever being a true recovered original. But if you can get it cheap and have the means to do whatever you want you could make it exactly what you want.

Question is if you try to bring it back up to original in all specs or just cram a V-8 in and go easier on the rest of the car.

It’s all preference....but I would be tempted to leave the six in and go all out on the rest of the car.
