I was going to say the same thing. Poor Shaun Wade probably cost himself a few million dollars in this game after the tape of what Smith did to him is analyzed by NFL teams. I started to feel bad for him.
It is crazy how wide open that guy got on essentially any route he ran.

If only Ohio State has to beat someone, I don't know, like Clemson, for a chance to play Alabama?!?

Ignorant to say they didn't belong there. Who belonged there over them? Cincy....who lost to Georgia?
Clemson.....who lost to ND?
ND.....who lost to Bama?
Florida....with 4 losses?
Oklahoma....who had two losses?
USC.....who lost to Oregon for crying out loud?

Ohio State was the best option, even though I think Clemson would have been a better matchup for Bama. Fact remains, OSU beat Clemson and 100% deserved to be there

Agree that Wade will likely take an economic hit on it.

However Smith is one of a kind.
I also give Sark credit for making things confusing enough to give Smith and his speed good jumps on tOSU DB's. Dude's so fast that if he gets one step on you he's gonna get 2 yards of separation in a hurry.
Not sure Smith and Jones could have been more on the same page. Jones was able to rely on 3 step drops and throw to where Smith was supposed to be. Smith was there damn near every time.

It was Sark's formation that caused the confusion and isolated MLB Borland on Smith, but that was just the one time.

Yep. The constant motions were tough. The one TD pass was a thing of beauty too. Motioned Smith twice and halfway through the second motion he ducks down and reverses field while he is hidden by the line. By the time Proctor realized he was going the other way again it was way too late

Unless DeVonta Smith comes into the combine and run a 4.1 40 -- it is tough to say he is a 1 of a kind, as he wasn't even Bama's clear cut #1 WR until Waddle went down and he was the 3rd or 4th WR last year.
I think he was the perfect fit for the offense Bama runs and he had a great connection with Jones, but it will be interesting to see how he handles the NFL at only 170 lbs and CBs who are much more physical and can run.
