March Madnes NCAA Tournament: Sweet 16/Elite 8

They actually didn't play badly down the stretch, Miami was just better. But it wasnt a choke by any means

If they had Beard, they would have had a better chance to win, and that's all Ill say
You replied to my message yet didn’t speak to it at all.

A 12 point lead with 10:35 left neutral court isn't that much cushion. You can't chess play it, you need to stay with your offense.

12 points with like 4 min left is getting into choke territory.

Yeah. You CLAIM that but show no work.
You just repeat the status quo.
You literally CAN game it… you know why? Because the clock is running and math is math.

2023 Longhorn Men’s Basketball gets eliminated in the Elite 8 round by Miami after being ahead by 13 in the 2nd half with 12:37 left (and a 12 point lead with 10:35 left)
Just like football, these teams need a logic coach.
You can take 20+ seconds off the clock with every possession and still have a pretty good chance to score, and it’s practically impossible for the other team to catch up.

I didn't think Miami would come back after Texas 12-point lead with about 10 minutes left especially since they led or were tied for nearly 33 of the 40 minutes. And the Longhorns held Miami to eight three-point attempts from their average of 21. They led in assists 20 to 11 and in 3-point percentage, 40% to 25%.

But Texas also led in fouls 23 to 14, and with the Canes 28-32 at the foul line vs Longhorn's 11-15, that was significant. With a minute to play and tied at 79, the Canes made nine of their free throws while playing tight, aggressive defense. Longhorns choked in the pressure.

they were never the same after Carr banged up his leg.. But it's another reason why.. he's gonna get the job.. but i'm wary on Rodney Terry.. he couldn't adjust.. he took a timeout with 5 min left in the game and in the next possession Allen turned the ball over..

We will never have a chance like this again.

You guys probably win that game with The Austin Strangler. But too much basketball talent in texas for you not to make another run.

Good points. I’d like to see a rerun of the game. Don’t recall how many FG attempts were made by Texas in the last few minutes.

lmao

Piss off, Creighton

it was a favorable run for sure but saying we'll never have another chance as good as this year? Feels to me that more parity is going to be the norm for the foreseeable future

And such parity may well be what kills March Madness as we know it. When the big two conferences leave the NCAA and have their own playoffs it won’t be the same. They don’t like pesky little teams from inferior conferences taking their preferred seats at the table.

i predict .... low tv ratings

I had 0 Elite 8 teams but I'm still ranked fifth in our group standings

This tournament, lmao

I think you're more seeing the results of the 5th year and the auto-transfer rule.

I don't know how many players on SDSU and FAU are that, but I know Miami totally benefitted from that.

The 5th year thing will go away, and that will take away a bit of the parity.

That said, Nova doesn't make the Final 4 last year with the 5th year thing.
