March Madnes NCAA TOURNEY 2025

It hasn't been a great overall tournament by any measure, but the prevailing theme has been teams unable to get defensive rebounds when it counts down the stretch as they're making a comeback.

And Houston did that. They kept Duke completely off the boards down the stretch

Scheyer coached really poorly down the stretch. They took their foot off the gas around the time you mentioned, leaving James in there as the in bounder, struggling to break the press, not extending defense out enough to guard 3 point shots. Just an epic collapse all around

He used his timeouts at the wrong time.

And the last play was horrendous. 3.7 seconds is more time to get a better shot than that. They surely have a better play than just heaving the ball down the court, they're Duke?

They don't have a good point guard tho. That hurt them

I wouldn't go that far.

I think Houston, and Florida and even Auburn are close.

I think Vegas got it close this year. I didn't think Tennessee was that far back either, but they were horrendous in their last game
Sorry if it came across that way. Houston isn’t talent deficient by any stretch of the imagination. Just not to Duke’s level. We probably disagree on how close.

Game was super talented youth vs talented veterans that are much more experienced and battle hardened.

I’d add making free throws down the stretch. Tech missed the front end of two one and ones. Several others did as well.

Hey guys, I went to sleep at about 11 last night, looked like Duke had it InDaBag™. Now to check my v-bookie balance...

I thought Houston was done too.

Managed to get the over thanks to those last two free throws.

Been on curse mode in this tournament. Will be betting on Florida Monday.

Any time a team loses a 9 point lead in 2 min, they give the other team help, but ... Houston made shots too.

And they played smart. Let the right players have the ball (Proctor) and fuck up the game.

And a 67% FT shooter nailing 2 FTs with a Final 4 game on the line?

Agree. Houston made some 3's that looked to be Hail Mary clunkers when the ball left their hands.

Duke played not to lose and it cost them. Houston got scrappy and Duke folded. As someone else pointed out, Duke couldn't handle a basic press.

This tourney has sucked for betting. I'm all in on the Connecticut women today

Tough one. Both teams have weathered big deficits and don't get rattled. I'm liking that Houston experience and coaching
Yep. I'm trying to figure out which one seems more like a team of destiny than the other. Both have had some good mojo in the tournament.

Houston had the winning inbounds play against Purdue and the comeback against Duke...with some help from Duke.

Florida narrowly beat UConn and then had a comeback against Texas Tech

I picked Florida in my family bracket so I'm going with them. (But I've got it won anyway because the other family morons picked either Duke, Michigan State or Auburn.)
