Next Nebraska Head Coach

I agree, he’s gonna probably be a good coach. We can’t afford to risk “probably” right now though.
well that is probably the difference, I see everyone as a risk, including Rhule.

Hoping for the best though. I am liking that I am seeing updates on staff and recruiting already though. Gotta hit the ground running.

He has a track record of success at all of his (college) jobs thus far. I can see how his style didn’t work in the NFL, but we’re not an NFL team. Of course everyone is a risk in the sense that we don’t know what the future holds, but past performance is the best predictor of future results and his results show that he takes bad situations and turns them into double digit winning seasons. Will it work? I don’t know. But his history suggests it will.

I’ve had my eye on him for a couple weeks and done quite a bit of reading and listening to some of his speeches/interviews. He sounds like exactly the person we need for the job. Focus on fundamentals, not beating ourselves, winning on special teams, winning the turnover battle, and being tough….with coaches focused on development. We’ve had none of that stuff for the last couple of decades.

Sure, the problem with his resume is that we never got to see if he could maintain success. Hypothetically, like with Aranda, if Rhule went 6-6 the year after going 11-3 with Baylor, he becomes much less appealing.

Oh I can agree here. I have listened to a few of his speeches and whatnot and I do like them. He definitely comes across as a guy that focuses on the little things and maintains discipline which will be big, but again, consistency will be key if he can right the ship. I am still worried about recruiting though, I am hoping to see a nice class come in, but we will have to wait and see.

I Liked Fickell, Could have gone after Heupel, Candle is up and coming that will make it to a P5 school soon. I was not on board with Meyer.
Also liked DeBoer and I thought Sanders may have been an interesting experiment ??

Can’t afford to experiment at this point. We are a decade away from anything resembling relevance and 2 decades away from what we want/expect to be.

I feel any coaching hire nowadays are an experiment. I hope Rhule pans out and is the answer, tired of these failed hires, maybe expectations are to high these days, would Husker fans be happy with 8-9 wins a season and an occasion chance at a division and league championship??

For years I have argued against @Red_Alert that our coaches are going to be the exception to the rule. That hasn’t worked out. Past performance is the best indicator of future results. None of those other options have past performances that indicate any sort of surety that they will work out.

Well I would say Rhlue's past performance should get the program back to 8 maybe 9 wins a season, hoping that can happen in year 2 or 3 at the latest. Next year will be a struggle I think with little to no talent at most positions.

Except he won 10 and 11 at his last two stops.

Next year will likely be a struggle, yes. Past performance indicates that it might REALLY suck. But he gets better.

Those two stops where in conferences not as balanced and competitive as the B1G is, so I think 8 to 9 is a good goal.

Not sure what that all means? Nebraska's had good skill positions over the years, just been shit up front since the Pelini scrapbook players.

Thompson, Grant, Palmer are great skill position players if you can get it right up front. They're 10 win guys.

Nebraska's 2nd (LB's) and 3rd (DB's) level defenders should not be leading the team in tackles. The D line gets no pressure and gets blown out.

"Something Something tOSU's 5 star receivers (WhoPhoneDis)". Derp. Over and Over.

Look where that got them. Run the fuck over.

I’m just saying that you used to point to our previous coaches’ track records to indicate that they wouldn’t work out. I was optimistic. Didn’t turn out so good for me.

homerun hire but if we hit 3 wins next year... this fickle fanbase will lose it.
Get ready for it. I’m glad we signed him up for 8…harder to back out.
