That may be a thought, too. The FO may believe they are good enough to make the playoffs right now and do nothing. Adding Peralta at end of season strengthens them for postseason.

Peralta is expected to be out until August.
 
I wouldn't be shocked if the top 3 NL East teams finish with a better record than the NL Central winner
