I’m happy that Dan Lanning was able to get a P5 head coaching job, but even he knows he’s in for a long first game. My prediction is both teams will be playing their backups most of the second half. UGA because they’re up so much, Oregon because the first stringers are too beat up to continue...

If there is one thing that really instills confidence in a team, it's definitely not having a clear cut starting QB 5 days before the game.

meh. team knows who is getting reps with first team and the strengths and weaknesses of all involved. very likely they see it more of confidence in who ever it ends up being.

I'm sure the team does know who is the starter. Oregon feeling the need to try to find a "gotcha" advantage over UGA by not saying who their starter is to me the larger issue. Basically already turning to gadget plays days before the game starts. Not a good look to me. Rather than say "here is our team and we are going to beat you", Lanning is saying that without tomfoolery they don't stand a chance.

Lanning said he would not name a starter before the game as he does not see how it benefits Oregon. Makes total sense, why tell your opponent who is starting and give them time to prepare? Chess.
