Ohio State Targeting Defensive Coordinator at Oklahoma State/Jim Knowles

Are they going to bring in Gary Gibbs as an analyst too??
Because there's a reason that Knowles got so good the last couple of years.

Solid hire. Hes 58 and probably stays until he retires. Smart guy a grad out of Cornell. Has HC experience as well, which helps. More importantly, he took an OSU team defense made up of 3* recruits and had a 3rd ranked defense in the country. So yes, that's impressive considering playing in the Big 12. Imagine he will do well with 4* and 5 * recruits. The thing I really look for that we have been missing for awhile is the blitzing.

You win one game vs TOSU in 10 years and already chest pumping at our hire. How cute!
Got to get those shots in now while I can.

Ohio State's issue isn't the defensive coordinator. It is their recruiting and development on the defensive side of the ball. They have become soft on defense over the last couple years. They don't have an elite DE like they have had for over a decade, with Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, Chase Young, etc. They don't have the lock down CB's they have had for the past decade plus -- they don't have an Okudah, Lattimore, Conley, Arnette, Ward, etc. to lock down half the field. The guys they have can punish the weaker teams, but anyone who can match talent and play physical bullies them.

With the absolutely ridiculous amount of talent they had on offense this year -- there is no chance they should have lost two games. Now they have to hope Egbuka and Fleming can fill the big shoes left by Wilson and Olave.
Fleming has been struggling with injury issues. Marvin Harrison Jr is the guy to watch out for imo.

You guys are stacked at WR, but filling the shoes of Olave and Wilson won't be easy. Olave, Wilson and Ngjiba-Smith are all unbelievable route runners. That's what made them great. Wasn't overly impressed with the snaps I've seen Fleming play. The other two -- I haven't had much of a chance to watch.

No question those are tough shoes to fill. Honestly, of all positions that concern me on our team are linebackers. We are still a very young team and another year under Coach Mick Marotti, our guys should bulk up more muscle so they will not be called a " finesse" defense.

Hartline is a hell of a actual WR coach, not just a great recruiter. WR is the position group i'm by far least worried about as long as he's leading the room.

Defensive Line is the spot you guys need to toughen up. They were pummeled into submission by both UM and Oregon. the LB'rs are the least talented of the position groups on OSU's defense, but the defensive line is what shocked me this year.

targeting is illegal and will get you suspended a game. Just sayin.

You actually have no clue what you are talking about but I guess if you want to blabber on you can...nobody is stopping you. This team had the most freshman starting in 80 years and as you can see the defense didn't do them any favors. The coaches job is to put the players in position to succeed in their scheme and it wasn't just this year...it's been going on 5 years or so, even when they had those star DE's or DB's-the defensive coaching wasn't up to par. Recruiting is fine. Why do you think they have been soft, well bc of scheme and coaching. I think you can put two and two together.
They will be fine at WR. Smith-Njigba is a stud and future 1st rounder. You listed Egbuka and Fleming...guys emerge, they have talented freshman coming in and I guess you forgot about Marvin Harrison Jr. LOL

It's funny you mention recruiting on the defensive side of the ball. If you remember they flipped a DE from Michigan to Ohio St a couple years ago, Zach Harrison, the #1 player in the nation. Jack Sawyer, Taron Vincent, JT Tuimoloau...all 5 stars-top 10 recruits. Coaching NEEDS to be better and yes that is part of development too so when you said development needs to be better that includes coaching! LOL
