Adding on the creating the 50-50 club this might be the greatest single game performance ever.one of the most ridiculous single game performances ever. Not sure what other hitting performances compare without looking (Shawn Green's 4 homer game?) , but it feels like it's in the same pantheon as the Clemens/Wood 20 K games, Randy Johnson's
Don't worry. He'll never win a championship because of his greed for money. The Dan Marino of MLB.Too bad he had to taint this accomplishment by doing it in a Dodgers uniform.
If a DH is gonna win MVP without also pitching, I can’t complain if it’s a 50-50 season.
If I had a vote, I’d give it to Lindor. Playing great defense at short while being great with the bat is more valuable than a DH could possibly be IMO, but I don’t have a vote and Ohtani has had the best DH season ever, so can’t really complainFeels like yesterday might have locked up MVP for him. Only person remotely close to him in WAR is Lindor, who's having an awesome year (135 wRC+, 7.4 WAR; Ohtani has 7.7) but his traditional stats might make him get overlooked by old school voters and fans.
As for best game ever, Tony Cloninger pitched a complete game and hit two grand slams in the same game. Get in line, son
Thats not greatest game ever if thats what youre insinuating.......
Pitching a complete game back in the 60s was very common.....thats not amazing.......I think Denny McClain had 30 complete games one time.
But to hit 2 grand slams in one game is amazing......hes the only one to ever do it....
I have not looked it up,but Id have to say for a pitcher that record will stand forever the way coaches have pitchers on pitch counts....
I had him on the Braves all time team as the first baseman before Freddie came alongSome of these feats are about circumstance not skill. The batter can't control how many men there are on base when he comes to the plate.
Joe Adcock missed 5 HRs by just a few feet. Hit 4 out (off of 4 different Brooklyn pitchers) and a double high off the wall.
