Omaha/Lincoln i love you...but...calling school off for wind???

It's totally fucked with wind here. Headed that way, supposed to get worse.

Assuming power outages?

Heard it could be tornadoes all the way up to Minnesota. Record highs for December all over the place en sech.

Gonna be a bit breezy here tomorrow afternoon and night. 45-50 mph with gusts near 60

The events over the weekend reminded me of 2003. It was on my birthday in November. Beautiful warm sunny day. I was painting the nursery because my kids were due in late Dec/Jan and I had the windows open. I started hearing tornado sirens going off and just assumed it was a test because there was nothing to indicate a storm.

Boy was I wrong

Like how much wind we talking here? Was this because of anticipated power outages?
“The decision to cancel classes is always made in the best interest of safety for our students and staff,” LPS officials said via email. “When LPS makes decisions to close in inclement weather, the school district considers challenging conditions for students, staff and families, as well as potentially hazardous conditions.”

They're concerned about school bus safety.

how is it driving a diesel pusher through heavy wind? Sounds like white knuckle driving to me...doing that with a bus full of kids sounds worse

I remember one time they canceled school because a storm was coming and the storm missed our area by a lot. That was a good day

Haven't ran into more than 20 mph wind yet. Much more than that I'll just stop for the night. I really haven't noticed the wind at all in this thing.

We've been told to expect power outages. Just dropped my Son off at school 30 minutes ago. :noidea: I'm sure the generators are gassed up doe.

See this is the problem. They are panic stricken over wind, the power goes out, they fire up the generators which are likely diesel. This makes the climate get mad and produces more wind.

BREAK THE CYCLE!

What about suppressing the wind with automatic gunfire? I think that might work. Wind hates automatic gunfire.
