OREGON to the B1G

Live look at USC and UCLA to Oregon and Washington

I don’t think they do. For SEC is about the money and the increase in revenue these schools bring. UGA UF and SC have no incentive to open Up those areas to two other SEC recruiting schools. it wouldn’t benefit them financially or on the recruiting pitch.
Yet Jexas is now in the SEC. I bet A&M would vote yes to approve FSU

I had to laugh when I just heard, Oregon and Washington are coming and they will be getting 50% of what the others get. Yikes. How desperate were they to get out of the PAC to accept that deal.

Get the hell out and solidify your future when you can. A short term hit definitely preferable to a long term one.

"will not immediately receive full shares of new media rights deal, but will make more than they would remaining in the Pac 12."

They obviously need to land somewhere, so a little desperate, but taking a better deal in itself doesn't reek of desperation.
The travel expenses will eat up most, if not all, of what the difference would be if they stay in the PAC. Teams already spend a couple million on travel. Now add in a ton of cross country trip with all of their equipment, etc and it will go up exponentially.

I get it though. The PAC is sinking and they are jumping from a sinking ship. The B1G is a much better option than anywhere else. Just surprised to see B1G teams getting $33 million more a year than Washington or Oregon will get.

Now if the other crazy rumor was true and somehow the B1G takes FSU and Clemson but at full shares it'd be fun to watch ODs head explode. we may even get a new word or phrase
I thought I was hearing the news wrong. Oregon and Washington will get like $33 million less a year than B1G teams with full shares.

That is an ENORMOUS difference.

Texas brought the money though. Neither Clemson nor FSU is Texas. As for the vote, A&M wod be singing a different tune if FSU or Clemson was right in their back yard.

I do not know how many schools it takes for a vote to pass but I can't see those two tipping the money scale enough to tempt UGA, UF, SC.

USC & UCLA were pissed when the PAC forced them into equal revenue sharing with Oregon, Washington, and everyone else. B1G is going to keep USC & UCLA happy because they are the big tv market, have the Rose Bowl, and are in a talent rich area. Partial share for Oregon and Washington makes sense for now.

A&M did sing a different tune about Jexas, which is why the other schools negotiated in secret.

Turnabout is fair play.

If Washington and Oregon to Big is true then Clemson and Florida State to SEC???

Not seeing it.

The PAC's GOR expires next July, so Oregon/Washington leave without penalty.

With the ACC GOR lasting until 2036, Clemson/FSU have a huge mountain to climb to the tune of $$ hundreds of millions.

Up to 500mm.

"The base buyout for an ACC program to leave the league early is $120 million, but buying out the grant of rights will be another large expense that could approach $500 million, according to some estimates. There are still 13 years remaining on the ACC's 20-year exclusive contract with ESPN. "

In fairness, they’re only half as good as the others.

I'm guessing it's because they already had the deal in place. But whatever, they'll have to go a little farther on trips, but they'd be traveling anyway, that's not going to be any significant extra cost.
