LMAO I just heard a comment on the John Conzano show that said hiring Chip is like fishing out of a fish farm pond.
The Oregon fans are not all in favor of Chip coming back. A guy just said on 750AM The Game in Portland "So if Chip comes back are he and Phil Knight going to AA meetings together?'.
If their goal is to stop losing decent coaches to other schools, then either chip or Wilcox probably meet that goal. Chip has already tried other levels and it didn't work out so well.I've heard same.
That the AD is giving the rest of the luxury suites a voice, and they'd rather have Wilcox since he's born in Eugene and played for Oregon.

If they want the top guy out there with a chance to take them places, neither of those guys fit that bill. The guys that do well be a fight risk.
Boils down to what their goals are and who has already said no.
Go with Wilcox, for real… why you’d want a guy who left you with sanctions and has done absolutely dick since leaving the program he inherited with all his pieces already place just boggles the mind. I get why Wilcox doesn’t excite them, we recently had our own conversation about how he’s not exciting, but at least he’s someone new with potential, isn’t gonna come with the risk of a huge contract, will at least be stable without tanking your program, then if you decide he’s not the guy you can press forward without being in a huge rush during a year not as crazy as this one with coach movement. If their goal is to stop losing decent coaches to other schools, then either chip or Wilcox probably meet that goal. Just lIke their uniforms, they probably want a "splashy hire" too!It would kill their current recruiting class, but they might be better off just sticking with an interim for the time being and see if Rhule or someone gets fired in the NFL.
Another one bites the dust:
what in the world gives you the idea Oregon wants a splashy hire?Just lIke their uniforms, they probably want a "splashy hire" too!![]()
It has gotten to the point in this coaching carousel, that those coach-less teams needing that "BIG HC Hire" are gonna have a lot more difficulty getting one and they're gonna have to be a bit LESS choosy about their new coach.

You and I aren't in position to tell them who to take lol.Go with Wilcox, for real… why you’d want a guy who left you with sanctions and has done absolutely dick since leaving the program he inherited with all his pieces already place just boggles the mind. Obviously… I wouldn’t expect they’re reading this or care about my opinion. You and I aren't in position to tell them who to take lol.
My point is I don't see them finding a guy That fits both the big name home run guy and also a guy that won't bail for a better job at some point.
