PAC News

saw one talking head say something like the Pac could be waiting for the conference basketball tourney to make any announcements about expansion and or media deals.
on twitter there's a rumor from somewhere (trust me bro?) that Oregon is talking to the Big12 about joining but able to negotiate at a certain price when the BiG comes calling to leave

That’s the smart move for Oregon and Washington if it’s true. I’ve said it from the get go that both schools needed to go to Big 12 first before anyone else bolted so they have the most leverage in negotiation.

If they sit back and wait then the Big 12 has all the leverage.

I think at most they would get some up front cash the conference took in from UT and UO leaving but I don’t they are going to get a revenue kicker greater than the other members. No way Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas or Texas Tech agrees to that.

Most logical is up front cash to help pay for a “transition” and an out clause on the GOR but bet they would have to repay the cash if that happened. It just doesn’t make sense for the conference to do anything else.

Oregon and Washington must think they have as much clout as Texas, OU and USC. They don’t.

yeah i don't know how the money would work out if they joined for the '24 season.. Cincinnatti, ucf, BYU, uh are already taking less than half.. The schools got back what they gave to compensate those 4 schools with the UT buyout.. Now in '25 they should all be making the same since the new deal kicks off
Since the new additions, sans SDSU, are coming from the PAC, FOX will pay the full amount along with ESPN to the new schools.

No but they have a lot more clout than what is left in the Big 12

Not really. Certainly not Washington.

Here are your natties:
10 in the 2000s, all in track with one in Golf. Compare that to the remaining B12. You might be surprised.

Other than that, there is a reason you are the red headed step-child right now:

- Neither of you have games with more then 4 million viewers
- You are 10th in average viewers, which is good. UDub is 38th, which blows
- From 2012 - 2021, you would have been in a 12 team CFP five times, UDub 3 times. The remaining B12 teams would have been in a cumulative 19 times.
- UDub's TV market is good, yours isn't so good. That doesn't mean as much any more, but it means something.

So you might tamp down the old we have a lot more clout than the B12 teams do. You really don't.

are you including BYU, Houston, Cinci and UCF who did not play in the BigXII in those years?
im still not sure it comes to 19 though

its also kind of a weird comparison comparing 2 schools to 8 or 12 depending on if you included the new 4

Sorry but the Oregon/UGA game last season and tOSU/Oregon games had over 4M. The Oregon/OSU National Championship game is the 2nd highest rated game in history.

In terms of Brand & Viewership - Oregon is top in what is left of the Big 12 & PAC.

My stats were through 2021, and tell me why those games were over 4 million. Same with NC.

You are the prize of what’s left. Tallest building in Topeka. It shouldn’t be enough that you get a favorable deal, IMO.

Yes, and it does.

Congrats you’re the tallest midget.

Psssst you know Phil Knight can walk into the B1G office tomorrow and get Oregon an invite if he wanted one.

He’s just not feeling it right now.

Nope. It would have already happened.

Washington has more clout.

Oregon does not.

Wow why is a casual fan on a sports board?

Washington brings more to the table than Oregon. A Natty for starters. More conference titles, more consensus all-Americans. More history.

Oregon brings nothing more to the Big 12 than they already have.
