Playoff LOLs

I know I'd be pumped to see if University of Toledo could win a mid majors tournament.

As I've said if I was king of the NCAA I'd get rid of all the bowls and make a 16 team NIT and then probably another 16 team tourney with just mid majors.

Gets exposure to mid majors and when you put all those brackets together you get casuals who pay attention for work bracket contests
My Miners might have a realistic chance (okay, maybe a small one) of getting into a 16 team tourney for mid majors. While Boise and SMU (just coming out of mid major) made the CFP, it was still only 1/6th of the field.

How long until the playoff is just the 6 best teams in the B10 vs the 6 best teams in the SEC? We have to stop pretending that the G5 & B12 deserves a shot.

Not long. Should happen quickly after this one. Sankey is not happy with SEC only getting three. Look for changes quickly. It isn’t wise to piss off the B1G or the SEC.

We will get our "oh shit" moments though, jn fact I can see it happening next week with either Boise or ASU.

I'd rather argue over whos 12th than who is 2nd or 4th.

Yeah, I know schools widely considered among the best in the nation have missed out on the playoff in the past due to the reliance on conference champs. I like the current setup much more than the 4-team model and i liked that much more than the BCS model.

Moving in the right direction. 12 teams feels right, just needs a little tweaking.

Guess ND will finally join a conference then.

They're going to have to at some point. But I think it's going to be schedule related at some point and not related to the postseason.

I'm pretty OK with the current setup, i just think they need to rethink the initial seeding. Most years, even the B1G and SEC won't have much quality once you get past their top 3-4 teams. Given the results so far this year, it'll be hard for either conference to argue they needed more schools included.

I suspect we will eventually see expansion to 16 and ultimately 24 (like FCS) it's never going to drop down in teams itll only get bigger, only think that will stop expansion is if interest really drops.

I hate the idea of a bye week for anyone, the problem is that they went to 12 and now either need to go to 16 to make a non-bye week work or drop down to 8 (and they're never going to drop down). They should have started with 8 IMO and removed the byes. That would have been the best format.

I think part of the problem this year is allowing not great teams from not great conferences in, and the bye weeks giving teams like ASU and Boise a week off for no reason (and they have no business getting that)>

LOL at having debates in the LOL thread

This only goes one way: bigger

I don't hate byes. If it expands to 16 teams, then there will be no byes. I like the idea of including all major conf champs and the G5 in some way. Though we may need to reconsider whether the B12 and ACC are major football conferences anymore if things keep trending the way they have.

Its a p2, not p4
