But he still got canceled in ways. Didn't Disney World take away sponsorship they usually give the Super Bowl MVP and give it to someone else?

I mean, if something leaked to your boss where you were directing ‘inappropriate jokes’ at them, they might care.

Everyone wants to turn this into “who cares, quit being so sensitive just because he said some anti PC things in an email,’ but there’s way more to it than that. If he just said some jokes in an email he’d probably be able to apologize it away, but he was directing it at higher ups, players, criticizing safety rules, sending and receiving topless cheerleader pics that are part of a bigger thing. No one gets away with that…

Just a few days ago I was leaning towards “this doesn’t deserve such a big deal”. That’s changed.

I’m bent on cancel culture big time. But, I’m bent on situations like Chapelle's recent show. I can’t conflate that to this.

It’s the totality of the pattern showing here.

The Smith comments were clearly of a racist bent, intention need not matter. Whatever Smith did that Gruden did not agree with it wasn’t his lips doing it.

OK, he called Goddell a fag. I still remember that word and how we didn’t always use it to be deliberately insensitive to homosexuals, but often as another version of “dumb ass”. And I agree that Goddell is a dumb ass. Everyone is still free to use that word, but if it comes up in this manner (no matter who you are assigning it to) that won’t play well with employers. And, it really shouldn’t. Those days are done.

The cheerleader piece really tipped the scales way the fuck over for me. Almost all of us had a female influence in our life that taught us not to disrespect women like this. And yeah, it’s inherent in the male psyche to do this anyway. But, get caught like this and it’s bad. Maybe you didn’t know the topless photos were coerced in such a way at the time….but maybe you should have known, and at least not carried along with it in written communications.

Yes, I know @White Knight …..nonsense. But, it’s not.
