Rumor: Miami to Hire Mario Cristobal

I actually feel sorry Diaz as he doesn't deserve how he is being treated and any coach with half a brain and other options gives them a hard no. It could be a gem of a job but the disfunction of the boosters makes some of the crap that has gone on in the SEC look like kindergarten. I would put their disfunction just a small level below what happened in the old Southwest Conference.

Between lack of interest in the football program and poor structure within the administration, many candidates have declined the opportunity to become Miami’s athletic director. New Mexico athletic director Eddie Nunez, thought to be the frontrunner, took his name out of consideration on Wednesday, McMurphy said.

Miami has some un-fixable problems. They can’t compete in the arms race for facilities and salaries. They just don’t have the capability or space to upgrade. They’re stuck playing in a pro stadium 15 miles away from campus. The facilities on campus are out-dated, and they don’t have nearly the money in the bank other schools do to keep up with the current rate. It’s an attractive spot due to its location and proximity to local talent but the fan base is hysterically fair weather.

but if you have them winning, it's a machine.. and the ACC isn't exactly a murderers row.

if Mario takes this job, does this make Oregon a stepping stone job too?

Would seem so but then again it could just uniquely be a place Cristobal wants to be. He was born and raised there and is an alum. Not sure I could say someone with no ties to Miami would feel the same way.

didn't know that Mario has a sick mom in Miami still, he just visited her recently too

I moved back to get closer to my mom who is going through health issues as well.. Think it could happen tbh
 
well they just hired the Clemson AD.. he's the one to be hiring the HC and you know he wants to make a splash.. keeping Diaz is going to make this rebuild even longer. I have a feeling that Mario does go back home.

the source of this rumor is Kyle Whittingham b/c he knows he can't beat the Ducks at a neutral location, so he has to create some type of distraction
