I disagree. Sure, the two #1s and the two #2s are serious value. But the rest isn't worth all that much.Traded 5 picks and 3 players.
Too much.
No joke. Wilson always managed to find a way to beat us. I'm thrilled he's gone. The Niners' division record gets better automatically.Wilson was the only thing going for that team. I’m glad the Niners won’t face him 2-3 times a year going forward.
Watson is very talented but has serious issues. Some teams may be hesitant to sign him.court appearance Friday with him and accusers grand jury. See what happens
RW is also on the back end of his career....not like he is closer to the beginning.I disagree. Sure, the two #1s and the two #2s are serious value. But the rest isn't worth all that much.
One of the picks is a pick swap. Denver sent a 5th and got a 4th back. So that isn't worth much.
As for the players, they're of such middling value, they almost don't count.
--Lock has almost no value
--Shelby is an ok DE, never had more than 6 sacks in his career
--Fant has good production, but Denver was waffling on his 5th year option
The 4 picks and Fant are the real meat of this deal. The Broncos are getting a PB-level QB. Doesn't seem like too much to me.

No he isn't. He had one injury that derailed most of his season. He is still a top 7ish QBRW is also on the back end of his career....not like he is closer to the beginning.
Supposedly, Denver never made an offer for Rodgers and targeted Wilson all along. The Broncos couldn't get Rodgers so they went for 2nd best.
That is what their GM said but there were numerous reports of Denver pursuing Rodgers.Supposedly, Denver never made an offer for Rodgers and targeted Wilson all along.
Pure pocket passers like Brady and Brees can play into their 40s. What has made RW elite is his ability to escape the pocket and extend plays. The quickness and mobility he has to do that really starts to wane after age 35. The question is whether he can become one of the QBs that makes his living from the pocket. I think he can still play QB as a pocket passer but I am not so sure he can play at an elite level from thereRW is also on the back end of his career....not like he is closer to the beginning.
I am of the opinion when looking at our history that it is our own offensive ineptitude that has led to such lopsided results. During the Harbaugh years, Fangio had some success containing RW but our offense could not sustain a drive giving Wilson too many chances. Had the 49ers been even able to generate an average offense the results would not have been so lopsided. During the Shanahan era, we were just jinxed. Losing key personnel at the worst times. RW throws what should have been a game losing pick, but our replacement kicker can't make a winning field goal. Those teams in between were just bad/horrible defensively and made even average QBs look Pro Bowl qualityI disagree. Sure, the two #1s and the two #2s are serious value.
