And the example that was used above at the start of the draft was Mahomes, who isn't eligible, even though he started in 2018 as well. I changed it to current so won't have difficulty anymore :thumb:

Christian Wood was a friggin steal. You got him for spare parts. Offensively he's going to help a ton. Defensively is still meh. You guys should try to steal Looney in FA.

That doesn't help their defense but their defense wasn't the issue. They have rebounding issues and scoring around Luka isn't consistent. They were a top 5 defensive team all year including the playoffs

Man I would love Looney. I would even do a sign and trade, we have a glut of depth on the wings with 3D guys. Looney would transform our defense. We can defend the perimeter but we are a donut inside. But Wood for what we gave up is a freaking steal

In fairness, Golden State does that to a lot of teams. Doesn't mean you're necessarily bad, but definitely has a weakness.

Just like in these finals Jordan Poole was finally exposed on defense. His MPG is down significantly because the Celtics have just been hunting him on offense. He's been almost unplayable at times. We have to rely on his scoring to keep pace with the defense that he's not providing.

Offensive rating - 14th
Rebounding - average at best

They were exploited in the playoffs. Plus GS is a veteran team, they can make ANY defense look average. The Mavs did not have an average defense. Wood will definitely help in the interior but they still need a capable center and depth. Not a fan of their depth and Dinwiddie was pretty much awful other than a stretch in the playoffs.

Overreaction. The Warriors can make an elite defense look bad. I saw it for years vs CLE and they had some pretty good defenses even with average defenders on the court. The Mavs had a better defense.
 
The Mavs held the Suns (a top 3 offensive team) to only 104 points per game in a 7 games series.

Have to give credit to GS. That is a championship team that likely wins it all

There's a difference between having a highly ranked defense and having a good defense. The Dallas Cowboys had a top 10 defense this season and the Niners came in and blew them up running the ball. Same thing vs the Rams a couple of years ago, top 10 D, gives up 200+ rushing yards in a playoff game. You can't be a great D if you have a massive hole. The Mavs have great wing defenders. Most teams today don't go inside, they just jack up 3's, and the Mavs ranking is high because they are good at defending the perimeter. But what did GS do...it wasn't just jack 3's...it looked like a layup line. No interior D. What else did GS do...they attacked whoever Doncic guarded. If the Mavs really had a great D, they would be getting ready to be fitted for Rings
