I mean I guess in a way it is good the media is finally changing their tone and making what is happening in China is "Too much" it means the narrative is changing and they are going away from support of this type of measures, but you'd have a pretty short memory to think a year ago they wouldn't be hailing this as an aggressive and determined way to help reduce covid numbers and somehow portray what the citizens are doing as a creative and unique way to stay in touch with their neighbors during strict necessary lockdowns.

here, these are more news stories about current events. They are discussed here from a viewpoint of news only. They don’t have a political slant. (Ie there’s no “team red vs team blue”). Those discussions are still in the PF. @fordman84 will monitor the posts to ensure that stuff that is “too political” gets removed.

If you like the story and want to have a political discussion about it you can copy the video in the OP and post a thread there.

I have a relative who currently lives in China (Fujian) and I was discussing this video with her via chat last night. (She can’t see video bc the internet blocks it). Anyway, she says that if you test positive you are forcibly quarantined or sent to a designated quarantine place. If you don’t comply it can be a 3 to 7 year prison sentence.

The province she lives in requires daily mandatory testing. She lines up for her test every day and gets the results via her phone a few hours later. If its red that means you have Covid. If it’s yellow that means you live near someone who has tested positive for Covid. If it’s green you’re all good

Some parts of this I really like as an option. The testing and communication process on cell is neat.

The hell fucking no is “mandatory daily testing”. Did she say how long that takes out of her day?

I remember at the start China built a shitload of hospitals in one week. They were sending the sick to these places to recover. The concept of having an OPTION of a place to go to remove your transmissibility (or more of it) from family and loved ones is interesting. But, only as an option.
