Shit has hit the fan

I know what they are supposed to mean, but in real life it doesn't work that way. Boy that called wolf syndrome.

Yeah I mean, you can't get 6 states to all duck and cover for the day in case they get one....but it should alert them that the potential for deadly storms are possible and to stay informed to local warnings.

addendum: I would rather deal with hurricanes every 3-4 years than deal with one freaking night of numerous deadly tornadoes dropping down, state after state, hour after terrifying hour.....

Until the wolf is real…..

I'm sure they do. NOAA weather radios are like coffee makers. They are everywhere. Most people I know have weather alerts on their phones. (Funny story. At the local restaurant, had nearly every phone send out an alert notification at the same time last year)

We live rural and the weather is bigger news than a shooting in the nearby town. But, the work goes on. As soon as a warning goes out, you mentally review you plan, then get on with your day.

I hear ya there.

My ex would sit in a Starbucks drinking a mocha with an incoming line of tornadic storms. Just oblivious to it all.
My kids know better though, thankfully. They'll even call me and ask about threat levels.

I get that. That's why a phone is great. Not glued to the TV or radio getting reports from 150 miles away.

Fear is the mind killer.

You mean a 'watch'.

A warning means there is either doppler radar indicated rotation or a funnel's been visually spotted in the air or already on the ground.

You take cover now. Hopefully where you'd earlier reviewed your plan when the watch was issued.

When a warning is issued for half a county then I need more info before bailing. If I hear one is down SW of me 20 miles away and is heading SE, I continue on with my day. If it is headed NE, I head for shelter. Not rocket science.

I get your point. I just check the radar on my phone or TV.

Tornados are always embedded in a line of storms and stay in that line.
If your 100% sure that line is not gonna go over you, then certainly carry on.

Like I said, when you live rural, you are more attuned to the weather. Wind direction, humidity, approaching fronts, etc is data absorbed and becomes part of life. And I keep radar app open for hours at a time during stormy periods. Again, not that strange around here.

I do live rural and agree. My nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away. LOL

I had a feeling the strom that came through here was going to be ugly as it went across the plains again. Good luck fuckers!
