Only $5 million to fire Frost.

How much did it cost tejas to fire Herman?

How much will it cost tejas to fire Sark when he gets caught with a bottle of peppermint schnapps in his vest pocket at a university function?

Whatever the cost is.. it will be settled and not keep a lame duck coach like Frost apparently is..

If it comes down to having to play a home-home or getting two cupcakes that play at home both times, the latter seems far more attractive from an economic perspective.
No doubt it is better economically...which is all that seems to matter nowadays.

But, I'd be willing to bet fans would rather watch ONE home game against a better opponent than TWO home games that are not competitive. I think they'd be willing to give up one of those slaughters for a good home and home series.

Unless they are the type that would enjoy seeing the Christians thrown to the lions.

You are totally underestimate that crowd that does not have money or desire to drop $ 200 for a ticket and uses these games as a chance to go see their team.

Sure the game isn't always exciting (sometimes) but it is a chance for people to see your team at a lower costs. I know firsthand because as a kid, I was often taken to these type of games and sometimes even as an adult, these are the affordable option.

Are you saying that TX/OU are playing 8 more G5 schools this year?
Yes It Is GIF

Yes, but you are much more likely to get injured in a hard hitting game against another elite team than you are playing a cupcake.

In the B1G and SEC -- it gives them little to no reason to play a tough OOC, when they will have the top SOS already with their conference games.

Money, recruitment, national exposure, and just general hype. None of these things are in desperate need for the big programs in the B1G or SEC, but they go out of their way to increase each every season as much as they can. Keeping up with the Joneses.

Texas has come out and said that the fans deserve seeing UT play good programs.. Which is why they have been aggressive with the OOC schedule

You shouldn't have to pay a dime to see those type games. I'm a Miner fan so, at times, I have to pay to watch their crappy football. You shouldn't. If you are willing to pay anything to watch teams like mine get taken to the woodshed by your Vols you ain't gettin' your money's worth. Believe me. You'd be better off paying to watch a Vol intersquad scrimmage.

Ohio State has been big on this as well recently.

It is a chance to go see the players, etc. Think of it as being CFB's version of a preseason game.

Plus, mid-majors are not always pushovers.

I swear, I wonder if you actually follow college football. There isn't a question about whether the expansion is going to happen, it's just whether it is 12 or 16.

But, wait, you've been telling me that even if we expand we won't play tough OOC. Now you are backing off that? SMMFH.
Really? Show me where they agreed to expand the playoffs? Proposals and discussions are not agreements. I'm sure every conference would love for them to expand it to 8, 12, 16, hell - they'd love it if it were 64, because they'd make a fortune off it. The issue is -- now you are having student athletes playing up to 16 or 17 games a year. The CFP isn't competitive at 4 teams -- adding more teams isn't the answer.

I get what you are saying ... the crappy games are ones where most STM give away their seats to family and friends who normally don't get to go. That said, I don't know a sinlge Dawg fan who would rather play a crappy team than a great team.

prove it.
ive heard this but never seen numbers that back it up.
it makes sense in theory but so does a theory that the "cupcake" teams are gonna give you more and hit harder. that the "cupcake" teams arent the 5and 4* guys and their techniques might not be at as high a level or because they are smaller and slower they take other shortcuts that can lead to injury. more blindside blocks, chop and cut blocks and such
cupcake teams -- your starters are resting on the sideline after halftime. Or are you under the impression that when someone like Georgia goes up 42-0 at halftime against Sister Mary's School for the Blind -- they throw out their starters to go up by 100?

I think going over 2 is overboard but they are kind of the preseason game for the team.

Perhaps CFB needs a preseason game. This week could be the start of them.
